Every cigarette not smoked is a win.

Not everybody is able to quit analogs entirely, and some even go back to them after about a month or so. Seems something else is missing. I recently started to supplement my PVs with snus, and that was after more than a month of just vaping, too. So far, one or two packs of snus a day do the trick for me, not much. I think if I started cigarettes again, I'd smoke more out of plain habit.

Great attitude! You are not a failure if you still smoke a cigarette or 2. Quitting is the hardest thing I have ever done. I thought that vaping was the answer but I was wrong. For me it just wasn't cutting it. So after 8 months of torture and not a single cigarette I discovered snus and the great guys who have posted their results and solutions on the Nicotine forum I have found a way to make it work.

Just keep on doing like you are and keep up the effort. That's what really matters.

Garrett,

I tried to quit for several months but due to ECig malfunctions and poor battery life of the cheap chinese crap I kept going back on the analogs. I finally broke down and spent the money for a Protege and within one week I was completly off of the analogs. I have been analog free for over 4 months now and so far so good.

You just need to find your "sweet spot", that combination of hardware and juice that does it for you.

Not pointed directly at you quasi, simply using your post to emphasize that there is some error in thinking that the use of electronic cigarettes is a "one size fits all" methodology.

Plenty of folks can stop the use of inhaled combusted tobacco with the use of a PV. There are more than enough that don't quite make it with that route that the following should be allowed consideration and merit.

Copied from a the blog entry http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-know-about-vaping-vs-analogs.html#comment788 by DVap

"On one of the threads, I divided smokers/vapers into four basic groups based on two theoretical criteria: 1) predisposition to nicotine addiction, and 2) predisposition to tobacco MAOI addiction.

Group 1: low predisposition to nicotine addiction, low predisposition to tobacco MAOI addiction.

Group 2: high predisposition to nicotine addiction, low predisposition to tobacco MAOI addiction.

Group 3: high predisposition to nicotine addiction, high predisposition to tobacco MAOI addiction.

Group 4: low predisposition to nicotine addiction, high predisposition to tobacco MAOI addiction.

Modeling on these these four groups:

We can expect group 1 to do fine vaping modest eliquid nicotine concentrations.

We can expect group 2 to do fine vaping higher eliquid nicotine concentrations.

We can expect group 3 to find vaping alone unsatisying. Supplementing vaping with some good strong Swedish snus, not that pale imitation Camel stuff, will likely calm these folks right down.

We can expect group 4 to find vaping alone unsatisfying. Supplementing vaping with some moderate strength Swedish snus, again not that pale imitation Camel stuff, should calm these folks right down."

As for that sweet spot, I've tried a variety of atomizer/voltage/liquid combos and I am firmly within Group 4.

So how do you all think im doing? A bad job? Making a good effort? I'm just looking for feedback on how you would rate my "quitting" at this point. Its only been 5 days, but i've prolly only smoked a total pack in those 5 days, in comparison to a pack a day.

Fail.

Well...I've been using my PV since the end of October...I started off not smoking cigarettes at work, then transitioned to not smoking in the car on my hour drive to and from work (which was what I thought was going to be the hardest to give up), now i can go a couple days barely thinking about smoking. There are still times (when at the bar drinking or hanging out with smokers) that I still will go and buy a pack for the night but I find that when i used to go to the bar I could easily blow through a pack and a half...where now usually half a pack. I think that I've been weaning the habit and not trying to stress so much about it. When i start bugging I still give myself the option to smoke, but I really don't think that i WANT to quit. So far it is a major improvement and I am pretty happy with it. I actually feel like it is possible to quit when I make the choice.

Fail.

After 5 days?
Not fail by any means!
Relax and let the vaping and cigarettes sort themselves out.
