Hi everyone im krissie. Im new to ecigs and hoping I can get some help. I recently purchased the blu ecigs starter kit and what a complete joke for starters but im not willing to give up there. I usually smoke about 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day. I actually smoke sonoma reds because they seem stronger. Well the problem I have had with trying to find an ecig that will work for me is I don't know which strength I need. I tried calling local stores to see what they had in disposables but they are clueless. I recently found out that the blu is roughly 13-16 mg and I have to hir those really hard and a lot but when im done I still want to light up because it doesn't seem to fulfill my craving. Ive read where some people just mix their own and tbh im not ready for that quite yet. I do need something convenient. I have been looking at the vapor couture. I love the way they look and they have a higher nicotine level but not by much 18mg. But no way of sampling them first. They do have a 30 day guarantee. Anyway if any of you have tried those or can help with any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

To begin with, no one has asked you What you smoke at 1.5-2 packs per day (unless I missed that). The strength of the Cigarettes you smoke will help you to determine the mg level of Nicotine you should try. It is generally not recommended to Vape over 24mg (Very High), and 18mg is the highest that many vendors sell pre-mixed. In general, 36mg and over is intended for DIY Mixing. Smoking 2 packs per day will effect what you find satisfying, too, as it's not just the Nicotine, but also the Hand-to-Mouth experience and habit.

Once you get away from Blu, and try something of higher quality, like an eGo, you may well find that 16/18mg is more satisfying.

Here is a Chart that relates mg levels to Cigs.

You should also be aware that Flavors are an At-Your-Own-Risk kind of thing, so you'll want to do some research on what's in the ones you try, if you do try them. Artificial Flavorings are the worst. Even though you may not want to DIY yet, you can study up on what goes into E-Liquids here, and learn about what to try to Avoid...
DIY E-Liquid

There are many high quality e-cigs out there, but this is a good place to start looking.
Joyetech electronic cigarette, Tank System, Changeable System, eVic, eRoll, eGo-C, eGo-T, 510-T, e-Liquid
There are several models to select from, depending on the Size and Shape you want. Also know that it is quite common to start with something like Blu, and move up the ladder into higher and higher quality e-cigs. I went from something similar to Blu, to the eGo-T, to the eVic.
Welcome to ECF and Vaping. :) I hope this helps. :toast:

Hey krissie,

I just got into vaping about a month ago and I currently use a cigarette-style ecig from Smokeless Image. I know some people may say those are terrible too but so far I have been pretty satisfied with mine. I have mostly been dripping with mine and I'd say the vapor output is not bad at all. Smokeless Image Customer Service is also excellent to deal with if you have any questions or problems.

Best of luck to you and happy vaping.

Thanks for all of that. I'm not sure if I posted what I smoke, but I smoke Sonoma full flavors. I choose those over something like Marlboro because the marlboro just doesn't seem strong enough. Those to me are like smoking lights. I like to throw in the comparison because I'm not sure if they are a product sold everywhere. I did purchase the Triton kit. When purchasing flavors I purchased about 4 diff flavors, and got 2 of each. 1 24mg and 1 12mg. This way if 24 is too strong I can do a 50/50 mix and take it down to 18. Checked out the links thx for that. Based on the chart 24mg will be ideal for me, but I'll see. And the eVic looks amazing lol. I have quit smoking cold turkey twice b4 and ea time was over a yr, but I enjoy smoking so I always went back. Now I'm back to feeling like hell. Hoping this alternative gives me what I need to kick the cigs for good, but still give the satisfaction I want. And who knows maybe I'll quit again, lol. Thx again.

I buy my fluid from ECBlend E-Liquids - Something Better. They have nicotine at several levels, even 24mg(which I use because I too was a heavy smoker) and 36mg. They give you a lot options, a wide choice of flavors, and a fairly reasonable price. Use the coupon code 10020 to save some extra money on your order.

All the Best,
Bob

Hm... well, I smoked lights but a lot of them (up to 2 PaD) and thought of Marlboros as on the strong side. And I use between 12 and 18 with some 24. If you thought of Marlboros as weak... you may end up on the high side, closer to 24.

Though I wouldn't plan on "a" level of nic. I found that I need more than one level. 18 to 24 for times I'd normally really want a cig (just after getting up, with coffee, after dinner, like that) but around 12 most times during the day.

Also, new vapers seem prone to "chain vaping" at the beginning. I know I did. I suspect to keep the cravings at bay? Either way, the higher stuff in large quantities? Oh boy. It was like too much coffee sometimes. Especially in the evening. I had to pick some lower nic "evening liquids" if I wanted to get to sleep at all. :)

Hi, I'm new too but I checked out many starter kits. In every case the companies would send lower concentrations in their kits than what you could buy from them in cartomizers and e-juice. The highest I found was 30mg in both their kits and carts at http://www.intellicig-usa.com Because I was more than a pack a day like you I crave the nicotine and even 24mg wasn't fully working. I ended up going right into learning how to refill the cartomizers I had and that same place sells ready made e-juice in 36mg.
Now I just checked at their site and they are changing that :( Moving to a new system where it's 30mg Hope this helps, I'm off to order whats left of 36mg

Well I did get everything today. I do love the halo system. The flavors, not so much. But I don't really care for fruity flavors. I'm going to try and find a good french vanilla flavor something more on my level lol. I wish the place I had purchased from had it but no luck. Anyway, I dnt seem to mind either strength. I could see myself doing the same thing and switching strengths throughout the day.

Hm... Halo won't say what their PG/VG ratio is. That's annoying.

Funny you should mention French Vanilla, I've got one on order from Johnson Creek to try. They also have Vanda which is a vanilla that's not overpowering. Also I've come to like Rainer which is a cherry that's lightly flavored. They mostly sell 100% VG liquids so you could sample a few and see if you like VG. They sell small bottles for sampling and do a discount if you order five at one time.

I've heard many good things about Heather's Heavenly Vapes and Mount Baker but haven't yet tried them myself (going to soon though).

You'll have to do some experimenting to find the right nic levels and PG/VG ratios that you like and work for you. But, then, that's part of the fun of vaping. Trying new liquids. That's actually part of what keeps me vaping instead of smoking. There's more variety in vaping. I like to switch flavors during the day, keep from getting too "routine" and bored.
