What is the difference between, say, a Boge 510 Carto and the 510 Threaded Kanger Horizontal Carto???

What do they mean by horizontal? (And which do you like better?)

They are two very different cartos, and their supporters will be out shortly to answer your questions.

"standard" cartos have a coil suspended vertically inside the air tube, with the filler material on the outside. A cottony 'diaper' helps the juice wick up to the coil.

"horizontal cartos" have the two types of filler material wrapped around the air tube, with the juice wicking down to a horizontal coil.

I used to vape the Go-Go (3ml horiz. Proprietary threading) and the volt (808-horiz.) and really enjoyed them. But I started having dry hit issues and wicking problems with new ones that I bought and I gave up on them.

I now only vape the smoktech 1.7 cartos (around 2ml cap. 510 LR-vertical). I have never had a problem with them. I run them for a week (20-30ml) and chuck them. They're available in clear, stainless, wrapped, or pre-punched with a bottom flange for smoktech carto tanks.

There is also a center tube inserted in the middle of the carto that leads down to the coil. It improves airflow, flavor and heat. Coil stays wet longer, but with the coil at the bottom, filling can be a pain the first time without a syringe. The boge 2.0 horizontals seem burn faster than they can wick sometimes especially with high vg.

The biggest benefit to horizontals is the filler can be removed for cleaning.

Wow Roland, that cost is huge IMHO. That's why I use tanks(Ego Ts). I purchased 5 extra attys and 25 tanks in Aug/11 and that is all I've spent for hardware since. Oops, sorry, I did buy 2 901 T attys and 5 tanks for them 3 weeks ago. Just to see the vape. It was very good, although the 901 batts were a PITA. Just saying M8, that that amount of costs for vaping might lead to the same price as, dare I say, analogs(for me $4/ 25cigs). Sorry for the hyjack and back to the OP.

I did a video review of them. Pbusardo did, as well and it is VERY in depth. I don't like kangers. They aren't designed to handle anything over 4.2 volts max. I vape at about 5 volts. If they can't handle an 8 watt output, I have no use for them.

Boges, on the other hand (vertical coil) have taken everything I've thrown at them and vaped great for me.

The major difference is more vapor in my experience, and Boge's were my go to carto until I tried Kanger horizontals ... the coils are at the bottom of the carto which makes for better wicking and more consistent flavor and vapor production IMO.

I have been using a kanger 2 ohm on my 3.7 Roughstack for the last two days...
I wasnt sure at first, but I have been comparing it to my Boge LR (my fav do far) and I actually like it better.

I would only add that for me the Kanger LR horizontals seem to hold more, are easier to fill and are much quieter than a Boge LR. They seem better with some sweet or fruit flavoured juices too, but definitely burn very easily at anything above (3.3) volts. I use both Boge and Kangers as well as some Smoketech LRs depending on what I am vaping both juice and PV wise, as well as a few higher resistance cartos for higher volt vaping. I am beginning to realize more and more that there are no hard and fast rules in this bidness of vaping. There are an enormous amount of variables to consider when deciding what works best for one thing or another so don't stop trying new things. You never know what may work well for you until you try it yourself.

It also seems that the airflow tube changes what we are used to as far as ohms. Not the actual equations, just the result. Have a 2.8ohm horizontal that produces a very warm and satisfying vape. As I said previously, sometimes the 2.0ohm can't seem to keep up as the bottom coil is entirely reliant on gravity. They also take longer to break in and can seem either rough or just weak at first.
Another pro is those certain times a stealth vape is necessary. The horizontals are very quiet.
