Wait...so is it too much vapor, or too airy? Those are on opposite ends of the spectrum...
What kinda hits are we talking here?
When I first started vaping on an eGo style with a Kanger cheapy tank, I couldn't give myself a headache
On an Atlantis/RDA if I inhale too sharply too many times I -will- get a minor headache, the more I do it the worse it gets, though usually is gone within a half an hour.
Might be something to consider, try taking different hits, light with a gentle draw and see if it helps
(Sometimes I don't realize how strong and deep of a hit I take, I actually have made myself light-headed from vaping though it's a fine line between inhaling too hard and getting a headache and inhaling moderately and chain vaping)

I recently switched to RDAs and have been using a magma with single coil, 30g kanthal at 2.2 ohm 3.7V. I vape exclusively at 3mg nic. I cannot seem to figure out why, but I am almost instantly getting a massive headache and wake up with a phlegmy, burning sore throat. I have tried cleaning the RDA multiple times, switching to organic japanese cotton, rebuilding, and max VG. Rebuilding seems to work for a few hits, and then instant headache again. If I use my old set up (a large mah battery with nano tanks) I can vape for hours with no problem, but one hit from this magma gives me an incredibly painful throbbing on the top of my head. I'm also getting this crazy throat irritation, like almost a chemical burn, but that takes a few hits to set in. This has been weeks of me troubleshooting with no permanent success. I'm almost at the point of just buying a new RDA to see if that's the problem, because I don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, could someone recommend a good, cheap, noob friendly RDA that's comparable to the magma for me to try? Thanks guys!
EDIT: I've been hearing good things about the vertex v2, and I can get it for 11 bucks at angelcigs. Do you guys recommend this RDA?
Maybe I missed it, but, what atty were you using before RDA's? If you went from something like a T3S to an RDA, you need to lower you nic when using the RDA. I realize you're only at 3, but if that's what you're body got used to in the old replaceable head type atty (less efficient), then your answer is that you need to lower nic because RBA's are very efficient at delivering nic. Have you tried 0mg liquid? If that doesn't cut it, try mixing 0mg with the 3mg, that'll get you 1.5mg.

My guess would be that your not used to 3mg on a dripper and that its too strong. On tanks and cartos its easier to vape higher nic levels, but not on drippers. I say keep on vaping the magma and you might get used to it. Another guess would be your kanthal, maybe it has some bad chemicals and stuff. Try buying some other kanthal.

Sorry, when I said "airy" I meant that the flavor is much more muted than my tank, not that I'm not getting vapor.
If I were to get a real tank (I use cheap $2 ones atm), what would you guys recommend. If it's going to cost me more than $20 (which prob leaves me with clones), I'm not interested.

I saw multiple versions kayfun lites (3.1 original, 2.1 by ivogo) on angelcigs, for between 12.50 and 17 dollars. They have very positive reviews on the site. I was thinking about the 3.1 for $17. What are your thoughts?

the other question i had was maybe you are adding 2 or 3 drops of liquid, getting a few vapes then the wick goes dry and you are vaping dry wick without recognising it.
It'll happen immediately after putting fresh liquid in. Sometimes I wonder if I'm not wicking properly, because on rare occasion I will see brown stains on the cotton by the atty even with a completely saturated wick.
I stated my build in OP. If you mean juices, I just got a new order of seduce juice, so I've been using those (max vg.. I think I should have gotten 70/30, though).

then later it sounded like you're using a vv/vw device.
if its an istick20 that might have something to do with it.
maybe you have a hotspot on your coil
Ah, I'm using an MVP 20W (yea, overkill for my purposes, but it was a steal and it will work should I decide to go with more extreme builds). I use it to try to mimic my old tank build as close as possible because I don't want to go through 10ml a day. I've tried multiple builds, and I make sure the coil is heating from the inside outwards on every build.
how many wraps and what is the diameter of the coil
if you make the diameter too big, the wick can work fine at first, then after a while the cotton can sink down like a wet cloth leaving the top of the coil unwicked, and the top ends up getting too hot.
I don't have any knowledge of that particular model; all of mine are "kayfun lite (shorter) plus (airflow control)". At one point I grabbed a "kayfun lite" (no plus) and it had about ZERO airflow, always with the burnt hits; I finally retired it to the JUNK drawer.
If you got the kayfun lite plus, I'd recommend the tobeco clone over the ehpro clone; with the tobeco, you can adjust the screw in the 510 connector to make it stick out further if you need to; if you mess with that screw in the ehpro (or the authentics!), it loosens the coil-mounting base, which plays hell with the resistance. The ones at sweet-vapes are ehpro; I got mine because they have the gold finish, and it was the same price as the stainless; the black is a couple bucks more.
