I use 3mm cotton wicks with 32 (30?) Gauge kanthal. With about 4-5 so so wraps I get 1.5 ohms.
But my coils seem to last a week AT MOST. This last one lasted about 3 days and is losing flavor and vapor exponentially. Also, there is this nasty, black custies on the coil and the wick is definitely burnt. I shwonk BEFORE I get a dry hit, but sometimes on creeps through.
Please excuse my photo, I'm at work. IMG_20130907_114300.jpg
Could I be wrapping it too tight around the wick so its not wicking enough? I double up the wick as I've seen in some videos...
Should I change my material to something else to keep with from happening? I don't know anything except cotton...
Please help. Give me options for other builds or something...I don't know anything about micro coils and am very new to rebuilding still.
I hate being a newb when it comes to the advanced stuff:facepalm:

Intervape, it looks like (like Crash said) you just need to pull out the old cotton, dry burn the coil, and stuff new cotton it. The thing is, if you wrapped your coil around the cotton, it may be hard to pull the cotton out without ruining the coil by pulling it all out of shape. The only real difference between the micro coils everybody's talking about and the regular coil that you made is how you make it....basically. With a micro coil, you just wrap your wire around a nail or a toothpick or the end of a small screwdriver or a 16 gauge syringe needle....something pretty small. Then you put it on the atty, screw down the legs, THEN thread the cotton through it. That way, when you pull the old cotton out, dry burn the coil, then re-wick it with clean cotton, it'll hold its shape. Micro coils are not all that hard at all, and the advantage is that they're really easy to re-wick (and dry burn clean in between.) You should give it a try...there are a thousand youtube vids around showing how to do it.

Some juices gunk up coils a lot faster than others.....and it looks like you may be using some high-gunk juice, so you'll need to re-wick/dry burn more often. Give micro coils a try. Cotton wick will not last that long unless you use unflavoured nic. My juice and my wife's love for coffee and chocolate ruins cotton in a day roughly. But cotton is easy to replace and cheap. A good coil will last you easily a week. I go thru about 9ml of juice a day and i have never had a coil last under a week.
