Patients are told that violators will be discharged and considered to have left against medical advice. A nurse will remove the intravenous tube if they have one; tests and treatments will cease and the patient will be instructed to call for a ride home, The Salina Journal reported (http://......./1m0BFYU ).

So much for "First, do no harm."

That sounds like a large medical malpractice lawsuit begging to happen.

In Minnesota its the Law so E-Cigs in Hospitals Clinics-State Owned Buildings State Universities Daycares when in Operation is Banned. Here we consider that a win as last year lawmakers wanted to include electronic cigarettes into Minnesota's Indoor Clean Air Act. That would have taken away the right of private businesses to decide if Vaping is allowed on the premises or not. Just my 2 cents But I think its a little far fetched to expect to be able to use e-cigs in Hospitals at this stage of the Industry. NOW I think its going way to far to discharge a patient for breaking the rule.[with e-cigs or cigarettes] and yes I could see a lawsuit if this is truly happening to someone in need of In-patient Hospital Care. I image it could be a fine from the State if they pressed the issue here.

We're heading into a future where smokers may be denied healthcare altogether. And remember that the CDC defines "smoker" as any person who's smoked 200 cigarettes at any time within their lifetime.

This insanity must stop. In spite of some arguing to the contrary, personal freedom is a God-given right, including the freedom to smoke, or use nicotine and any other legal product as we see fit. We should start protecting this right before it's completely taken away by these fascists.

Is this policy just for indoor use or for those that exit the hospital to use what they deem to be tobacco products? I think most by now should understand that tobacco use is not permitted inside of a hospital. Though going the extra mile and kicking them to the curb seems to border on insanity!

EDIT:

http://www.salina.com/news/tobacco-policy-at-SRHC-91114

It sounds as though this policy only applies inside the hospital as they do mention they have a designated smoking area.

Nonetheless this is taking things to the next level. I wouldn't be surprised if the next step is to reject care to those that have other unhealthy habits as well.
