That is indeed ironic but its attatched to e-cigs themselves rather than the guards behaviour/hospitals policy which i think the story is about. E-cigs are hilariously ironic in general due to the fact that the cigarette part of the name which initially contributed hugely to its quick spread has also become its biggest problem public relations wise due to what people associate it with.

They can and will tell you you can't vape or smoke in your car if they see you. Most hospital campuses that have banned smoking say you can't do it in your car.

Personally, I'd be a complete rebel and do it, anyway, but no one ever accused me of having any sense or being less than an ..........lol
I have always expected to be told not to but it never happened. I did however get evil looks as I paid to leave but they never said anything. I suspect it was because they knew it would do no good at that point.

Lack of ability to enforce such measures works in our favor...lol

It's a silly restriction and I don't see how it can be legal since our vehicles really ARE our OWN property.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. My company has a no smoking policy but I vape freely in the break room. If there is no one in the bathroom, I will vape there (just a few hits, always in a stall and always exhaling into my work shirt). When I was in the hospital for a stab wound suffered at my own hands while cutting boxes, I vaped in the bathroom. I figured they would give me a warning rather than kick me out at first, but there was no one close by so I got away with it. If asked, I would have just said, "Oh, I didn't realize since this is NOT a tobacco product and produces no smoke." What would they have said? Who knows. But they would not have kicked me out in exchange of money they were getting for the sutures I was receiving!

It's, uh, like a black fly in your chardonnay? ;)

(I think Comma referred to the hospital's policy of not allowing e-cigs on the basis that they're tobacco products, even though they allow patches and gum -- which have the same type and similar amounts of tobacco extract in them as any e-cig [nicotine extracted from tobacco]. And she wasn't even using nicotine e-juice, so her particular e-cig is less a tobacco product than the supposedly non-tobacco products the hospital approves. Does all of the above make for irony? Honestly I'm not sure. Seems close enough, though.)

this would be the irony I found in it,,,,,

It makes it hypocritical but not ironic. Irony would require a related backlash of some sort. For instance, if the security guard suddenly fell ill after telling her "no tobacco products" and the only cure was tobacco products then that would be ironic.

then you'll pardon my faux pas for calling it irony if it isn't :D
