Hey there ECF, I'd like to ask you guys a question. Last week I got myself a SMPL by Epic Design Studio. It was kinda hard to get an authentic product here, in Poland. Had to look waaaay to hard. But, all in all I managed to get my own, original, made in good ol' USA SMPL mod. It's a great device, and I'm getting amazing vape out of it, but there's that one issue that I can't handle. Been looking for answer but no one came up with anything well... useful and specific. The button in my mod sometimes get hot. It's not like the problem occurs everytime I use it. It's pretty sudden, and happend just a few times. Do you know how to handle this issue? I'd be really grateful for the answer.

Cheers from Poland :)

Chin scratcher.... could the wrap on the AW's have holes or tears?
A clean device is always a great place to start...one less variable to have to consider...

Cheers
I
ETA: AWT batteries... NOT AW.. So it's a 20A +/- ....Does the battery take and hold a charge well? Does it take longer then normal to charge? Does it bottom out more quickly? Is it more than a year old?

What battery are you using?

If I were to guess I could say the problem is you have an iffy battery that is having a problem with your coil has lower resistance than the battery can handle.

Are you using a quality battery like Sony, LG or Samsung?

If you are using a flashlight 18650 or an efest consider getting a decent battery.

Well, I popped my VTC5 in and it's all good now. But yeah, I gave the AWT to my buddy at the vape shop, he popped it into the fuchattan, and started vaping. His setup was around .2 ohm. He called me like an hour ago, and told me that the battery got super hot, later on it bloated. He managed to somehow get rid of it in a safe way. Battery was still able to charge btw. I did some math, and it seems like the battery would be putting out 20.8A with .2 ohm setup. AWT company brands their batteries to be 40A. Guys, I'm kinda into vaping, started back in 2010. But what if some noobie would be using these AWT with a 0.2 ohm coils? Battery would start to vent and then boom, another article in news "E-cigarettes exploded". People who make vaping gear have to understand, that they can put the end to their own business, by doing stuff like these. I'm gonna stick to Sony and LG for now. Thanks for all the support, btw :)

Better odds, you damaged the AWT over draining it.
Batteries never reach 100% of new charge and progressively get worse over time - any and all batteries.
The more damage one sustains the sooner it will show signs of failing.

* Hot switch is not a sign of a Failing battery. A Battery CAN fail from a Hot Switch issue.
As long as the Switch Closed resistance is lower than that of the Coil, the Switch should not heat up.

Keep your Batteries in top condition.
Do not over discharge. Allow to cool before charging. Allow to rest before next use.
Service your switch and connections regularly.

Glad you got a good battery now.
