Hey guys I got a tugboat v1 clone on ebay a couple weeks ago. It worked well up until now. I recently lost one of the screws and had an extra cartel gold scree lying around so i used that one. I am using a single coil and it goes through the posts with the two original screws. The problem is recently all lf my juice tastes dosgusting. I took of the cap and let it fore and i see there is a hot spot on the leg that goes into the right post. I rebuilt it constantly and I always get hot spots on the right leg. Should I just throw out my rda as is was only around 20$ and just get a new one.

thanks!!!?

I tried all of the above but no luck. I rebuilt it 3 times and I still get the same problem. If it is not the leg though now I see bright orange in the middle of the coil and slight orange in the left or right of the coil. The cotton is completely saturated so I don't know why it is doing this. When I build my coil I dry burn it and i see it has hot spots so then i squeeze it with tweezers and it glows from the inside out WITH NO HOT SPOTS AT ALL AND ITS A PERFECT COIL. Then when i wick it up it starts to act up. It either gets a leg hot spot or the coil starts glowing orange while saturated and it smells disgusting and tastes horrible. After I wick it i still squeeze it put nothing. I dont understand whats going on. I tried it on my smoktech magneto and also my sigeli 100w but same problem with both. I have another tugboat rda sitting around and i tried it and same problem...???
any suggestions?

thanks!

Only thing i can think of is either there's not enough cotton going through inside of the coil or there's too much cotton. I would suggest either trying a little more or less. It can't be the RDA if your coil is burning properly before you wick it IMO, but i have had a friend who's patriot did the same thing. It would even catch fire sometimes. His wouldn't do it at builds higher than .5 ohms, but as soon as he would go lower then it would start acting up. If your building lower i would try a higher ohm build and see if there's a change and try different thicknesses of wick if you haven't already done so.

its definitely the right amount of cotton not too much not too little. I just dont understand why it burns properly while it dry burns and then when I wick it, it tastes so burnt and hurts my throat so badly. I switched to my toby atty and same problem by the way. I have a hot spot on one of the legs. I dont get what it is. All of my atty's have worked fine before..?
so what should try new wire?

i tried tightnign it still no luck! i am realy angry and upset because i vape dailly and now all of my vapes are messed up im so confused. ive been buiilding for a pretty long time now! I have tried all of my rda's and now they all taste burnt. I even tried different wires and different batteries and mods. I dont understand how if i dry burn it and there are no hot spots and it glows from the inside out then I wick it, it then gets hot spots on the legs and even the coil in the middle gets red and it smells like smoke. I am so confused!

Try getting the coil as close to the posts as possible and see if that fixes the hot leg issue. Also as stated above, it could be a loose connection or you use too much wicking material. Saturated wick which is too thick for the coil cools the coil too much so my guesses would be either too long legs or too thick wicking, as if the wick was too thin, it wouldn't create hot legs as far as I know because the coil is 'not wicked' so it acts like a coil with no wick in
