Think of it as a sidewalk full of angry midgets (midgets are electrons). The midgets walk down the sidewalk, and every 2 seconds, each midget has an uncontrollable urge to punch a lightpost (the lightpost is the wire). If there is e liquid in the lightpost, the punch simply turns the e liquid into vapor. If the lightpost is empty, the lightpost bulb glows.

The part of the street passing through Downtown Wickville has lightposts being constantly restocked with e liquid. The bridge from Wickville to Positivepostown has lightposts with no e liquid ever.

Really? You have two photos showing the exact same thing and you're refuting the photographic evidence with hypothetical midgets and light poles???

The reason the wire is darker at the ends is because the electrons can jump from the post to the wire (and from the wire to the post) without having the follow the wire when the distance is very short (think static electric shocks).

If that we're true... It's not... But if it were, it would apply to an atomizer build same as it does in the pic... No hot leg.
It would also mean no computers or any other electronics because the electron could just hop from ground to positive without having follow the copper traces on a pcb.

Electricity follows the path of least resistance. In computers, they make sure those copper traces are the path of least resistance in that location and that they can accommodate all the traffic

I'm not sure what the heck is going on in this thread anymore (lol midgets punching lightpoles) but the reason the center is brighter in the alligator clip image (brilliant visual example, btw) is the heat-sink effect of the clips themselves. The same thing happens in an atomizer coil.

So wouldn't a tighter top coil be a better heat sink than a loose one? 0_o

You don't want it tight or loose, you are looking for that happy medium where coil is gently hugging the wick.

Think of it like this...if someone just took the time to hug the midgets, then they wouldn't be so angry and would stop punching light posts. :sly:

I'm sorry, but you know this is nonsense.

My analogy, while silly, was intended to be accurate.

Hey, Donnah! I was just coming down to the basement, looking for this old box o' junk! Seems like a common theme again, huh? Whatever happend to Starik, anyway?

Your first post here helped me a great deal. I see post after post asking for advice on top coil hotspots so I thought I'd bring this back up :)
