I've got a couple of those good old Silver Bullets. Had them for a while and use them regularly. Thought they would be good long term backups.

Anyway, a few days ago I fried a hot spring. Not sure why. I hadn't been diligent about cleaning the spring so the contact areas might have got corroded or something. Or I might have absentmindedly kept my thumb on the button after I finished take a hit (I do that occasionally. I'm old and not getting any younger). It made me think about springs a bit. I only had a couple of spares. What happens years down the road when you can't buy stuff any more and the mods I was relying on to keep me going after the deeming are useless because I destroyed the last spring. I did order a dozen springs last night.

I was wondering if hot springs were available anywhere outside of vaping. I did some looking around last night and couldn't find any mention of them. I did find a comment somewhere in flashlight world about brass springs collapsing if they got too hot.

So, anyone got any thoughts about the availability of hot springs down the road?

I just asked Rocks82 in the Altsmoke Supplier Forum about future availability of hotsprings for the Silver Bullet. Hopefully she can ask Chad (Altsmoke's mod builder) where to get them if Altsmoke is not going to carry them any longer.

Thanks for checking that out.

I do find it a little hard to believe that collapsible springs didn't exist before vaping. People have been putting batteries in tubes for a long time. Hopefully Rock will come up with a long term generic source.

AltSmoke now has hot springs on the website. Chad has some in stock, too.

Rocks82 also said that you can purchase them from Diamond Wire and Springs

Took a look at that site. I couldn't find any mention of springs that collapse from heating. Have to ask them I guess. I read elsewhere that brass springs can collapse if they get too hot. Diamond Wire do them in a variety of non-ferrous metals, but I don't know which one has been used in mod springs.

Got the impression they are mainly aimed at commercial customers, rather than individuals ordering a couple of springs.

But if nothing else was available at least it would be possible to get cone springs in the right size.
