Nicquid: House Blend

Summary: A fine caramel-hazelnut vape that takes a bit of steeping to fully mature. A likely re-purchase.

Copper Creek's House Blend has something of a cult following - it's climbed the list with names like Boba's, Gandalf, Kentucky, and Malty. The grouping is not undeserved - it's certainly a powerful and unique offering. I ordered in 70% VG and tried it in a 3.7v 2.0ohm Boge configuration and a 4.1v 2.2ohm Ego Twist configuration. It's best given a week or more steeping time and a brisk shake before loading up. And in the carto about 15m soak time - the Ego tank just needs dry pull priming like most VG heavy nicquids do in that style "tank."

At the cool 3.7v/2.0ohm level it has a light caramel, slightly sweet, somewhat latte type of feel and taste. Nice solid thick plumes that linger on the nose for a while. Very clean and consistent.

At the slightly warmer 4.1v/2.2ohm a bit more hazelnut comes though. The caramel hits the tongue but the draw turns into a hazelnut flavor, a bit less sweet, and the thick feeling becomes more of a tobacco sensation toward the end of the draw. It's still clean, no aftertaste, but a bit warmer and chain-vaping it'll tend to become nuttier over a session.

FV keeps her customers and threads lively and did another great job here. It's definitely worth a try but I'd recommend 50/50 or more toward PG to retain a bit more flavor. It'll be on my regular list moving forward. -Magnus

Nice review, Magnus! Very informative, and a great summary of the field and your experience vaping House Blend.

Personally, I tired somewhat of House Blend after the first half-year, largely because I prefer more tobacco punch from my mystery flavor combos. Not that Boba's and Bounty Hunter are particularly strong in their tobacco element, but Gandalf certainly is (and it uses a natural tobacco extract as well, as do the Kentucky Blends, which I prefer over synthetics).

My palate is fickle, however, and known to change over time, so perhaps House Blend will make a comeback for me and eventually rejoin my large stable of daily vapes.

It's "interesting" (to me ) that some get tobacco, which I also have never gotten from House Blend either. Maybe I "fried my buds" with 33 years of 2 pad stinkies???

JB,

Yes, that's why House Blend went south for me. No tobacco. At least I could never taste any. If a juice is even vaguely caramelly, I want it spiked with tobacco to add some bite. (Unless it's an obvious dessert like strawberry cheesecake or a fruit like limoncello.) I even like my coffee juices better with a little tobacco in them.

The thing is that against their butter-rum or the one from Vermillion - it doesn't have that taste at all to me. Hrmm.

Regarding tobacco, I guess that depends on where you came from too. For me, having enjoyed primarily Acid cigars and pipe tobacco, cigarette tobacco is just a burned mess to me. So at higher voltage I get that same taste and sensation from a lot of nicquids. I have to stew on this more and try to characterize the results better. Thanks for the comments! -Magnus

The best description I can come up for the taste of House Blend is borrowed from someone else: to me, it's white cake with white frosting. I love the stuff.

I find House Blend to taste like red velvet cake: slightly chocolatey but not enough to be an actual chocolate cake. Tasty as heck though:)

I have now tried three of the most famous "mystery blends": House Blend, Boba's Bounty, and Bounty Hunter. I like them in that order... BH is a distant third because it's just too... subtle (was going to say "weak" but that sounds too pejorative). Also, it's very tough to get LOL.

i get mostly rum from house blend. butter-ish rum. with a tweak of something else. its difficult to describe.

Hazelnut butter rum cake. Sometimes I think I can taste coffee or chocolate as well. It's an interesting mix, but as Mr. Herbst pointed out, it lacks that tobacco "punch."

This is what I get also. After being one of my more frequent daily vapes, I slowly began to enjoy this less and less. Maybe my taste buds just got burnt out on it.

I've begun adding some caramel flavoring, and occassionally some pecan flavoring, too, to my tank filled with House Blend, which has renewed my appreciation of this fine juice. I now vape my favorite cakes - caramel and caramel pecan.
