Does anyone know of a person in the Houston who could repair the fire button on my Gen rx3? I really don't want to pack it up and send it off and wait 2 or 3 weeks for repair. I would attempt to work on it but my right hand is in a cast for another month. My teeth and left hand won't cut it. And by the way this left hand pecking sucks. I would also like to learn how to properly build my only rta (Pharoah) tank. I watched all Youtube to every method but mine leaked like a bad toilet. Tasted like one too. Would really like to visit with someone in the area who could help me with both. I would be happy to pay for your time. Thank you

Good point about about the lead. I just like trying to fix stuff. But Not electronics. I read that the fire button was attached with a sticker to the fire switch. But I can't grip the mod to work on it. Or to screw it up more. And I also need some eyes on for rta build. I retain info better that way. thanks bombastinator

Hope you have a back up, some folks even back up their back ups.
Could call around first to local B&M Vape shops and ask if they can do the repair. They may do it while you wait.

Now that is a cool site. Thanks . The first thought out of my cross wired A D D frontal cortex was ROAD TRIP .Grab a ton of batteries grab a handful of 30ml juice bottles and my back up mod. Grab a case of cold beer. Grab a bottle of Tito's. Grab my screwed up mod. Now head out from Houston Texas. Windows down smoke rolling out the back exactly like a Cheech and Chong movie. Fleetwood Mac blaring out of the speakers. I'm stoked now. Life is good I'm 70 and very impulsive in my retirement. Then it hits me its 3:30 in the morning and I'm checking my email after making a bathroom break. Got the check back in to reality for a minute. But I can't. I see myself standing in front of some of Judge 8 hours from now saying BUT YOUR HONOR, the fire button on my box won't work. And I know a place in Cali that I can get it fixed. And he lectures me about speeding with a bottle of opened beer and smoke pouring out of my windows. And I say that's not smoke dude that's just Vapor Clouds. He fails to find humor in that. So I fire back to him hey I was always wondering do you guys wear anything under those black robes. He smiles a little bit, and I'm thinking this old dude is a pervert. My mind is rolling with a ton of negative thoughts by this time. I do manage to get out the next day and head back home. Wife is gone taking my favorite dog but left the damn cat. I find her note on the bar it says I can't take this anymore you're too impulsive. And I think, you think so. Anyway I'll give them a call out there tomorrow and see if they can hook me up with somebody in Houston Texas. Thanks for the name I would have never thought there was a site that sold all that. Anyway with just a left hand I don't think I would have made it over there anyway. Ha ha thanks

Just buying another one won't be anywhere near as interesting as all that, but it would be easier and cheaper.

Yeah, I know. I just got carried away thinking about it in the middle of the night. Yeah what I really need to do is fine the easiest non leaking RTA to build with very little physical effort. I think what I really need to do is fine a good hobby vise that I can use to do all of this with my left hand, seriously.

Kylin Mini - specifically the Mini.

But personally i'd just go with a squonker if I had one hand. Because you don't have a tank it's easier to get to the coils. And you have much more room on the deck. With a lot of the new RDAs you can pretty much just drag and drop your coil, screw it down, put in a piece of cotton. With RDAs the wicking is less temperamental - you can just stuff in as much as possible without causing issues pulling it through - the tighter the better. With RTAs the wicking has to be perfect or it will leak/have no flavour.

The reason I don't use RTAs at all anymore is because of the above. I can build them pretty much dead on now, at least for all the RTAs I have. But getting the tank off, making sure the residual liquid doesn't get everywhere, babysitting the orings, and putting everything back together is just something I don't want to do anymore.

Well let me ask you something. What do you think is the easiest one I should look for and use. Something that I could put in a small hobby vise to lock it down so that I can work with it with my left hand only. I don't mean to keep throwing out the left hand crap but until I get this cast off of my thumb and arm I really can't grab and use anything with my right hand and I am right handed. I'm getting sick of trying to screw coils into a smok head. And quite frankly coil heads (atomizers) are just eating me up price-wise. I need to figure out some sort of set-up that I can use with a small rubber hobby vise and put things together with my left hand. I hope that makes sense to you and would appreciate any recommendation that you can give me. And where I might be able to buy single coils to screw into the head to replace them when needed. I think I could lay some cotton out on a table and cut it with my left hand and hold it down with my right casted hand. And then probably roll the end up enough to pull it through. Any thoughts I would appreciate. Thanks

I'd get something like the wasp Nano. More or less $10 since you're testing the whole thing out.

wasp-nano-11.jpg

1) Buy a prewound -spaced- coil (You can get these cheap and they last upwards of a month. You just need to regularly change the wicking and clean the coil.) At worst you can mount a big screw in a hobby vise and wrap some wire in between the threads.

2) Insert it into the two slots and screw it down

3) Pass your cotton through (just cut both sides so they are even after you install it)

4) Use tweezers to push the cotton into the deck

5) Done

Pretty sure if I had a hobby vise I could do this one handed in under 3 minutes.

Even if you don't squonk it, IMO it would be easier to squeeze juice through the mouth hole than try to twist off a cap and fill in a tank with one hand. Then replace the cap.

The hardest part will be making/finding a spaced coil. I would make it for you if you lived nearby, or mail you a bunch if you lived in Canada. Maybe a shop could help, or someone else closer to Texas. Like I said, you will probably only need to do it once. You can clean your coil and keep it going for a surprisingly long time - at least until your hand heals.

Thanks man you gold in my book. I will start research today and try to find what all I need to order to get fast shipping and decent price. I'll make up my list once I read up on squoking and figure out all I need.thanks again. I'll start by buying the Nano and then look for a box.

I'd recommend just picking up the $10 RDA and seeing if it's something that works for you before investing more time/money.

I'm going to suggest, if rebuilding is tough (it is for me I have a fine motor tremor) taking a look at rayon. It's a more forgiving wick, but it also lasts longer before gunking, which is a huge bonus in my book). I find it easier to use, it plays to my strengths, wanting to overstuff the coil (that did not work out so well with cotton, but rayon shrinks when wet as cotton expands.) It really makes wicking easier (and less frequent) for me. There is a large thread on it somewhere on ECF, you don't have to read the entire thread, but I have found rayon to be immensely helpful. I wind my own coils when able but I also have premades for when/if I am having a bad day.

Bigger, single coil decks should also be your friend. But I find rayon to be much more leakproof than cotton (if wicked correctly) and just all around better. For me, the stuff was almost magic.

Best of luck

Anna

The $10 rda is great idea for the "Lets try something easy" test. thanks dom qp. Anna I read something you wrote (not your book) about rayon. I will look it up again. You made a convincing case and it rang true to me. I am looking forward to reading your book. Hope it gets picked up. And there is always self publish Amazon. Hell with all the people you know here and helped you will probably get a ton of 5 stars. Thank you Harry

That's sweet :) I rewicked all my RTAs today and did the major stitching. It should work. I'm not really sure anyone is gonna want to read it, but I sure want to be done. Worst case, it's the book I could say taught me to write, because it is ALL non-autobiographical fiction from here on out.

As I told my sis, my life is deeply boring to me now, my biggest success was (after puzzle piecing it together) that my word count isn't INSANE. As anyone who has read a post knows, brevity may be the soul of wit, that just means I am NOT witty. LOL.

But by all means try it though, rayon is the best :)
