Houston Vapers?

Hey guys,

I'm a fairly recent transplant to Houston from Los Angeles, after my wife and I moved here to have our first child in a city with a much lower cost of living.

Unfortunately, I really don't know anyone out here besides my in-laws, since I work from home for an LA-based company and spend most of my time working and taking care of my daughter, and I'd really love to get friendly with some locals, and with all the overwhelming amounts of information to be sorted through on these forums as I get back into vaping, it would be really nice to have some folks nearby to chat with about favorite local vendors, etc.

So if you're in the Houston area and aren't afraid to talk to strangers, please say hi!

Jesika -- thanks for the friend request :)

We live in the Cypress area, where it is utterly devoid of culture. I like Montrose. We went down to pay a visit to the Magick Cauldron recently, just happened to be there during the Pride Parade/Festival so it was a bit of a madhouse. But coming from Hollywood, it was a lot like being back home; plenty of long-haired freaks, pagans, artists, etc. -- good people.

The culture shock isn't too bad, since all I really do these days is work from home, take care of my daughter, and hang around the house. Every now and again I go out and I'm reminded just how different the cities are, but thankfully it's at least a big city. I imagine if I was in rural Texas I'd probably have gone crazy by now.

The only thing I can't abide is the heat+humidity. During August I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. We'd often get up to temps as high as 110 in L.A., but that would only last for a week or so, and with an ocean breeze to cool it off a bit and humidity levels around 30%, it was much more tolerable.

We've been here since February, and honestly I still just feel like I'm visiting... we may stick around for a few more years if my wife takes over her dad's business, and if so we will likely relocate to a more cosmopolitan area like Montrose. I'm sure even if the cost of living is a bit higher there than in Cypress, still nothing compared to back home... our house now is twice the size of the one we lived in back in Hollywood, and we pay several hundred dollars a month less... nice, with the cost of a new baby :)

I think a vape-meet is definitely in order.... I see on the Houston Vapers group that there has been at least one in the past, maybe I'll go over there and poke everyone until we get another scheduled.
