I just joined and new to vaping, so this is coming from a "noob"- however I have been on other forums and am here looking at all this with fresh eyes. I've been gobbling up a lot of awesome info here, and I know I'm in the right place. I found my welcome message and link to the new member section very helpful, however, the sticky "Advice on what to buy for newcomers" did not supply much of a "jump-start" like a lot of the other stickies did, and here are my reasons why I propose it be de-sticked:
1) Thread started and ended several years ago: Even with a cursory glance through vaping history, I would venture that A Lot has happened in the last few years- products and innovations have evolved, and therefore recommendations and advice would be different now. This makes a lot of this thread obsolete.
2) Too long. This goes with the above point: A noob does not want to wade through 48 pages of mostly back-and-forth discussion (which contains a bit of noob-unfriendly tech talk) of good and bad products that are not being used as much, if at all. As well as some generalized assumptions of 'how noobs think', which may be inaccurate for the reader. I didn't read very far in- Not to diss anyone but I stopped with a growing assumption that I would not have ended up much more wiser by continuing to read this collection of nearly 500 posts looking for advice to take action with. It's my assumption that a sticky is there to be a "definitive, current, and efficient go-to place" for the subject at hand.
However, I skipped to the end and the last post #475 by rolygate- which has solid and concise info and thought, "This would be great if I read this first", because it goes into the decision-making psychology and the statistical timeline of total noob to '1/2 a year in' (if they make it that far); as well as the correct usage, which has a lot to do with the success and enjoyment of vaping. Making "Correct Inhalation Technique" and "Should you buy an E-Cigarette or a Personal Vaporizer" or something along those lines would be good stickies for a noob's fresh eyes to see. There are multiple threads on those topics and perhaps making a link-list for them would serve well as sticky. And/or starting a new "Buying Advice" thread. And/or stickying just that post (#475) by itself.
I have quickly learned that good equipment + good juice + good technique = great vaping experience and the reduction or elimination of nasty regular cigs. Getting the info to get those 3 factors in concert with each other as quickly as possible will shift the overall success of the user and the # of vapers to the positive even further.
