I have brand new bottles of TFA's Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Vanilla Cupcake, Vanilla Custard and Vanilla 10% flavorings and I want make something good.

I looked at "The List" of TFA flavors maintained elsewhere on this forum, but these are not listed there. I have no idea what percentages I should use - individually or in combination. I normally use 50/50 - 12% base.

I plan to make 10mL of each, but how strong to start?

Which ones could I combine to get an even more robust flavor? (and again at what % ?)

Does vanilla require long steep times?

ok so here is the most annoying answer ever. you will just have to try it , taste is subjective. ha ! ok now that we have that out of the way a real answer. Id try any of those at 10-15 % . thats what ive found i like with TFA vanillas. vanilla will take a couple weeks if you dont have an ultrasonic cleaner. but who knows you might like it right away . just give it try and see if you like it , if not throw it in a dark place with cap on on and forget about it if you can, give it swirl now and then. almost any combination would probably taste alright, its all vanilla but if I had to pick something out of this right now id try 10% custard and 5% vanilla bean ice cream. my 2 cents but its a starting point adjust and have fun . there is no right way . your taste might be different than mine and probably is but wont know till you give it whirl :)

Vanillin is going to more so be an additive than a flavoring. It's naturally a bit sweet, but doesn't give off the typical flavor that most vanilla flavors do (especially not if you're comparing to an extract, for example). Vanilla Cupcake is pretty good as is the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (although it does have a unique flavor), but the Vanilla Custard, to me, isn't all that great. I'm a bigger fan of Capella's, but some people don't like Capella's either, so you may end up loving the one from TFA :).

I would suggest starting small, in the 3-5ml range and mix at 5-6% each to get a feel for what to expect. They all vary in flavor profile and starting low will give you an idea of how much more you need to get it as strong as you'd like it to be.

Speaking of vanilla, I just ordered some TFA/TPA Vanilla Bourbon although I've yet to try it. On another vanilla note, I ordered the Holy Vanilla and HS vanilla at about the same time. So far I'm preferring the HS vanilla (flavor-wise) over the HV. What I noticed in my case was the Holy Vanilla seemed to be my coil-gunker culprit. Dawn I believe is her name from the Flavor Shack suggested 20-25% on the Holy Vanilla eeek! I've never used that much total flavoring in anything.

By HS, you mean Hangsen? If so, they do indeed have a very good vanilla and it's probably my second favorite next to Capella's Vanilla Custard, more so because it mimics a lot of that same flavor (slightly eggy and sweet). I've never tried holy vanilla, despite many recommending it, but from what I've gathered from reading other posts, it's close to vanilla extract (anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong). If true, that would be why the recommendation for higher flavor percentage is there.

Extracts, by nature, aren't all that strong when it comes to vaping. They can work, and I've used them, but they are more for nuances and background notes than anything. Holy Vanilla would probably be best in a mix rather than as a standalone.

If you want some good vanilla's that taste like vanilla (not custard, or overly sweet), I'd also look into FlavourArt. Check out the Bourbon Vanilla and Tahity Vanilla. They don't smell anything like they taste (trust me on this one). If you smell them from the bottle you really don't get the "vanilla" aspect that you do when you actually vape them.

I'm sitting here trying to mix a few sample batches.

Since starting this thread, I have received 2 of Hangsen's Vanillas from RTS Vapes. One is just named "Vanilla", and the other is named "French Vanilla".

I'm planning on mixing a 5mL batch of each. Any suggestions on the percentage I should use?? My base is 50/50 - 1.2%.

Start @ 5% on both. If that's not strong enough, move to 7% and then 10%. I've only tried the Vanilla by Hangsen and it's pretty good on its own. It's slightly sweet and sort of eggy, much like a custard (but missing some of the notes that custards such as Capella's Vanilla Custard has), but pretty great overall. I'll have to try the FV - didn't see that one on my last order.

I couldn't agree more. I like most of them right after mixing, but steep time really does make a difference with them too.
