Just curious on how you guys are cleaning your Aspire coils when they get gunked up. I have one soaking in alcohol and then plan on boiling it. I really don't want to dry burn these. I have been using a dark 70vg juice lately so it's getting gunk in about a week of heavy vaping. My Protank2 and T3s tanks have taken a back seat to the Aspire lately and I'm trying to get every penny out of the coil heads. Any info on cleaning would be great, thanks.

First remove the top of the Atty (head)
You do this just like you were going to rebuild the coils at any time you want to do so...
by screwing the atty into the base (only) of a tank... and screw that tank base
into a MOD
Then with pliers... softly rock the (chamber) of the atty (head) back and forth and it will come off...

You'll then be able to see the insides of the Automizer (coils and all)
Soak .... or what ever you would normally do... to clean heads... let dry
and put the top (chamber) back on... and that's all there is to it...

Again... this is how the coils can be gotten to in order to change them, also...

Have you rebuilt one? Seems like it would be a tough job.

Oh  ... I've been tossing the whole coil (critters that come in the blister pack) into the vodka bath. Is that a bad thing?

If it's working for you... then it can't be bad.:vapor:

What OldSeer said.

Just bear in mind that depending on what kind of juice you vape, it will get to the point where the vodka just won't be able to clean the gunk out of the coil assembly just by soaking.

I wonder how hard it would be to use ekowool instead of standard silica wick....

Ekowool IS silica wick, it's just braided rather than twisted.

BUT some people feel that the braiding helps wick juice better than the standard twisted rope. I don't have anything beyond anecdotal evidence to prove or disprove that idea.

I've experimented with various diameters of both silica rope and silica braid, but really don't have enough experience to say definitively that it IS better, but I do feel that it is.

Lol, sorry I should have been more specific. I use ekowool in my rda's and i love it, I NEVER get those horrid scortched wick hits with ekowool due to its high temp resistance. My musings were along the lines of how difficult it would be to do as ekowool can be difficult to work with at times due to fraying. Unfortunately rebuilding something so tiny for me right now is too difficult due to recovering from a stroke :)
