I read a blip, somewhere, that said you can use less juice with the Protank 3, if you use it correctly. Can anyone let me know what I need to do to decrease the liquid it uses?

I have the newer longer stem coils at 2.0 and a Provari. I don't need a really hot vape. I just got the Protank 3 a couple of days ago. Before that I used a Protank 1 for months and before that a Vivi Nova. My distant past includes almost evrything including dripping.

I have been vaping since May 2011. I have very slowly decreased nic from 18mg to 0 and mostly 6, with occasional 9. No matter what nic level, I vape a lot. I don't really plan to change that. I enjoy it and don't want to vape less.

I calculated that I vape/leak over 7 ml per day with the Protank 1 I used until yesterday. I really did not have a lot of leakage with the Protank 1, except when turning upside down to top it off. Recently, due to credit card scares, I have been purchasing e-liquids at brick and mortar stores. Today after buying 10 coils and 220 ml of liquid for a cool $194, I decided I need to cut down on usuage, diy or something. Based on my last 160 ml purchase lasting me only 21 days, this 220 ml will only last about a month.

I may post in DIY forum regarding easiest way to order and DIY at least some of my liquid.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hmmm. One thing that will cut your cost down would to be to learn how to rebuild the heads for your ProTank. The original ProTank heads will fit the ProTank 3 (but not the other way around).

Learn how to build a microcoil with 30ga Kanthal, 10 wraps around a 1/16th drill bit lands just about 2 ohms. This will provide a very satisfying vape, at lower wattages (I vape between 6-9 watts depending on the juice). The single coil will reduce juice consumption, and rebuilding your heads costs around $0.06 rather than $2 from a B&M.

There are plenty of tutorials out there on how to do it, just be careful, watch for shorts and make sure you have a way of checking the resistance before firing it up.

With any tank, make your own juice.

It comes out to be something like $1 per 10ml for me and I get the flavor I want (something that no vendor carries), I'm sure some DIY'ers can do it for much cheaper.

^this^

I spend next to nothing since I started mixing my own juice.
I've got 100mg nic in then freezer and a couple quarts of PG and VG along with flavorings in the cabinet.

Been using some vivi novas I had since they are easy. Rinse and dry burn every few days and I'm good,

I DIY 90% of my juices. Mine run $.05-$.07 per mL.

I am heading to bed soon but if you are interested in the process of DIY shoot me a PM and I will put together some decent links to how to do it and suppliers.

This. So much this. If you want to save money DIY.
220ml of my favorite DIY recipe, would cost me $12, including the bottle to keep it in.

If you don't want to DIY or can't duplicate what you like that way, at least find a vendor who sells cheaper in bigger sizes. For instance, my ADV costs:

5ml - $6.00 = $1.20/ml
10ml - 10.00 = $1.00/ml
30ml - 20.00 = .66/ml
118ml - 45.00 - .38/ml

I buy 118ml sizes and its super strong flavor so I buy double the nic strength I vape and dilute it with an equal amount of PG/VG making it .19/ml. The amount of flavor is perfect for me then. Its a tobacco flavor and, so far, I haven't been able to DIY it but .19/ml isn't bad. I've found most American juices can usually stand being cut by 1/3 at least saving you some money especially if they sell the big sizes. The Chinese juices are pretty weak though and can't be cut. The only exception I've found is Mount Baker Vapor which aren't very strong either... more like Chinese juice... without flavor bumps but their prices a low to start with and they do sell big sizes.

I thought 118 at.38/ml was pretty cheap until I used my DIY calculators to find out what that size would cost me to make. I'm still a newbie at mixing, so I only work with 10 ml and under.

118 ml 20% flavor, 60%PG, 40%VG, 12 mg nic comes to $5.80 without a bottle to put it in.

After reading in ECF and watching videos, I'm going to try rebuilding my coils to bring down my costs of vaping more.

Yep I rebuild my coils too. A roll of Kanthal is $5 or less and a bag of 100% cotton balls is about $1. It will last you a very long time. Added side benefit My original 2 protank heads behave better than the original coils and are still going at 7 months old.
