Hi all. I JUST found out about e-cigs on friday. Of all places, I was watching a review on youtube about RC planes (I am an avid RC flyer) and one of the guys videos was talking about how much he loved his e-cigs. I just do not understand how this wonderful piece of technology has passed under my radar all this time. I usually pride myself in keeping up with current tech and I feel like I been missing something great!

I have since ordered me a 510 and I should be vaping by tomorrow afternoon according to tracking :) . I am a 2 pack a day smoker and have wanted to find a better alternative for a long time now. I do not want to quit smoking as I actually enjoy the entire process but if this works for me, it would be so much healthier! I am very excited about this and I hope to become a vapor for life.

In a way, I guess I am a little happy about joining late as I have been reading non stop since friday and I think I am on information overload but it sure is great! No sooner then I ordered my stuff and I tell my wife about it, she sees a blurb on the news about how e-cigs are very bad. How can the media portray this as a bad thing, I will never know. With only a little effort, there is tons of information about it. I am really disappointed in the lack of investigation that our media does now, they don't even try anymore, I think they just make stuff up as the go along.

Anyways, Just wanted to say Hi and I can't wait to start my slightly healthier lifestyle!

Welcome DoomsDay! I think most of the people who try e-cigs love them. I know I do. I hope you have a great experience with them. There is a bit to learn, as I'm sure you know since you've read so much. Post any questions here and people are quick to answer them. I'm just down the road from you, in Greensboro.

Welcome, DoomsDay! :)

So glad you found e-cigs. I think you'll find that you enjoy vaping more than smoking. I know that I do. I got my kit in the mail 34 days ago and haven't had a real cig since I opened up the package. I can't imagine going back to stinky smokes, now.

It can be overwhelming, I know! There's so much information on this site...it's a good thing, but sometimes makes your head spin. Just stay in the newbie forum for awhile and ask lots of questions. You're sure to get tons of help.

My best bit of advice is to find a couple of e-liquids that suit your taste. I think the biggest issue that people run into when starting out is that they just can't find a flavor that works for them. Once you find that, you'll be in heaven. :)

Again, welcome!

welcome doomsday,
I hope your switch to vaping go as well as mine did. I switched straight from a pack a day to vaping 24mg juice. be thoughtful of the Mah rating of the battery you get, 650 is a minimum for any all day vaper, and even 900 or 1300 batteries are well worth strong consideration (theyre probably the best non mod battery to start out with)

AS said by tgcrna, theres a learning curve, and it takes a while to get used to how to use your hardware properly, but after some time you'll have it all down pat. best of luck :)

welcome! i was so excited when i found out about them too. i barely slept reading all sorts of stuff about them online.
i didn't think i'd quit smoking, i thought i would just supplement some of my cigs, with an e cig, and just cut back on the real ones a bit.
within about 2 days of vaping i changed my mind and i haven't looked back yet. i thought i would miss analogs since they were such a big part of my life, but i don't.
and now i stick to vaping.
I hope you have as much success with them as i do :).

Welcome to ECF! I was also a 2 pack a day guy and the 510 helped me quit pretty quickly, If you didn't get a pcc I personally would make that a next purchase. Makes the short battery life of the 510 more manageable. I use my 510 with a pcc at work and a Tornado/ego/riva (all the same thing) while at home. That setup works well for me.

Now don't beat yourself up for having a few analog cigs every so often. For the first couple of weeks I would still have one every other day or so but they quickly started tasting like crap, I only smoke now when I drink and seeing as I don't do that very often I am doing pretty well.

I tried the rc plane thing once, spent a full winter putting it together and getting it painted. And five minutes nose diving it into the ground...I keep meaning to get it fixed but all my extra cash it now going to my ecig addiction lol.

100% agree with qwertylesh. I had a regular 510, and had to switch to the ego. the good news is you really just need 2 ego batts and an ego charger. Hopefully you picked up a couple of attys. Since I know money is not the issue at 2 packs a day (plus I have RC cars and a plane) , buy some cartomizers. A bunch of them. and pick up about 15 5ml samples of juices from 2 or 3 different venders, and kick the analogs. It is the best feeling. Good luck to you.

Thanks all. I have already placed a few orders for different flavors and such. Starting off, I didn't want to purchase to much just in case I didn't like it, but wanted to have enough in case I did and could last long enough to get more in. I definitely will need to find something with a longer battery life as it appears the 510 is only about 1-2 hours, which is why the pack I got had 2 and I ordered another battery just in case, also ordered a couple extra atomizers and some cartomizers to try different things. I am at the computer a lot so I figure a pass through will be in my very near future! You wouldn't imagine just how many videos of e-cigs that I have been watching, so I think I have a good understanding on what to expect but I fully expect on making some noob mistakes which is why I ordered some of the extra stuff.

You should really look into the electric planes now. There have been so many advances in small park flyers that you would not believe. Just in the last couple years a good number of ultra micros have come out and if its not windy, are a blast to fly. If you think you might be interested in flying again, check out the "Champ" from horizon hobbies. It is a great first plane trainer and not very expensive at all. It comes with everything you need to start flying.

My hopes is that the e-cig will satisfy me enough that once I start, I dont ever pick up another analog (see that, already got some of the lingo down :) ) again.

thats good :)
I did the same, I got a few 10ml sample juices to try out flavours. I ended up bulk buying rayun 4 and grape after all my samples i found these to be the best cheapy all day vape juices for me.
I do want to look into how to mix juices though, that way I can support my local countries flavour vendors more and it becomes even cheaper for me yet again.

Godzilla has pretty much described what im doing right now, I have 2 900Mah ego batteries, some 510 attys, a few ego to 510 atty cones, and a fast charger and Im set.
when you look into batteries you'll notice theres auto and manual, I came to the conclusion that the manuals have a far lower failure rate, and even though I love the idea of automatic batteries, I did spend on auto hardware (m401 kit) I do regret doing now.

any physical size difference is still well worth it, if you chose a joyetech 510 or ego you'll be very happy and if it was a 510 you can easily get ego hardware (batts, cones, etc) and adapt your current atomizers to it later :D

like quite a lot of us, you'll probably end up fixated on the incredible joy it is to own lots and lots of ecig hardware, prolly end up getting a tackle box or few to house it all in aswell ;)

Yes mine is a joye 510. I have also been reading up on being able to mix my own juices to but that will be, hopefully, not to far off. Oh as soon as I started watching the vids and do the reading, I fully expect to have a plethora of e-cig hardware lol. You should see my workbench right now, full of RC stuff everywhere. 5 planes and 3 helicopters and 2 planes currently being put together (all electric). Just like RC stuff, the initial investment will be a little high for the e-cig stuff, but once you got what you need, it should be much cheaper to maintain.
