Nicotine poisoning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CDC - The Emergency Response Safety and Health Database: Systemic Agent: NICOTINE - NIOSH
You obviously need some facts. I've been at this for a couple years. I DIY 100mg. While I don't follow all recommended safety requirements, you can bet your life that if I spill 100mg on me I'm headed to the shower immediately. Nicotine absorbs through one's skin. It's scientific fact.
Ever heard of "the patch"?
Let's think about a possible real-life scenario based on the OP's cicumstances...
Willy the postal worker recovers OP's damaged package, containing 120 ml of 100mg/ml nicotine.
Willy gets some of this clear, odorless liquid on his hands. It feels like conditioner or skin moisturizer.
Willy wipes his hands on his pants.
Let's say Willy was subject to contact with 15ml of the liquid.
Willy still has 4hrs left on his shift before he goes home to take a shower and unwind.
10min after the contact with the damaged packaged which contained what Willy assumes was skin moisturizer, Willy forgets the incident.
30min before Willy's shift is over, he's feeling uneasy, his heart rate has increased and extremities are beginning to feel numb.
Just before Willy is about to puch the time clock, paramedics have been dispatched, because Willy has apparently suffered from a heart attack.
Poor Willy. How could he have known that the "skin moisurizer" was a hazardous poison that should immediately be cleansed if it comes in contact with skin?
If there was a hazmat sticker, Willy would be alive!
So I knew this thing had opened in transit.
the vendor is a chemist btw and i dont know why i needed to tell him to pack things better.
So they sent me a replacment, same size bottle, same packaging little bigger paper envelope.
unknown_shooter, I'd like you to use your "reasonable" math to "extrapolate" that this is a huge problem that needs to be corrected ASAP

Holy smokes, Batman! That's not a leak, that's a swamping. You also said it smelled bad. Did the second bottle stink also?
I have worked on docks and sorting facility's, almost all such places handle all unknown liquids as hazmat period. We do not come directly in contact with anything even if its listed as water we don't believe customers. With that said It should be properly packed.
Never
underestimate
dingo
enough
Reading this thread and looking at the pics made me wonder - If that's how the vendor handles what we can see how do they handle the things we can't see? Just my![]()
