So I just got my first mechanical mod- a caravela and I got a battery with it which is a 18350, 700mah, 4.7volt battery. Ive been using it for a little with cartos but today I got a rda, a nimbus triple post. I wanted to rebuild something but then I heard about how batteries can explode, ect. So I don't have an ohm reader so I just said why not and build a dual coil setup. I wrapped 4 coils around a 3/32 drill bit and I threaded AN cotton through it. I dripped my 80pg and 20vg liquid on it and I went to go vape. But I got a .... amount of vapor. What am I doing wrong. Anything would help I just wanna chase clouds and I have no idea how.

Wow, you went straight for the gold didn't ya. Nice gear and set-up. Yeah you need to learn some of the basics of dealing with mechs, batteries (high drain/protected), ohm reader, etc.... I've been vaping a year and am just now trying my hand at building coils. I know, I'm slow, LoL. Be careful with the batteries cuz' I know the mechs use unprotected high drain one's and it's up to the user to determine when they are running low and such. I don't have a mech because I'm not ready for all that. I'll stick with my protected stuff for now. Do a search up there in the right side on battery safety. Good luck and be safe! :vapor:

18350 isn't the best battery for safety. It is fine if you have a higher resistance coil, but a dual with 4 wraps that you didn't even ohm check is asking for trouble. Get a multimeter and check the resistance. I would suggest a 1.5 ohm or higher build if you want to use the 18350, but it would be best to check the amp limit of the exact battery you have. The 1.5 ohm recommendation is just a guesstimation on my part.

You could also take it to a local vape shop if you have one. Many will build safe coils for you for a nominal fee. That could be a good option to get you vaping until you get the necessary research under your belt.

I think it's great that there is so much information on these forums and all the videos on Youtube that show us how to do all these things. The problem is that sometimes those videos can make it look super easy and it's not always that cut and dry.

You have to be VERY careful with what you're doing to make sure you don't hurt yourself. Please get the appropriate tools to make sure you're safe =)

I'm trying to build around a 2.0ohm coil. I did 4 wraps of 30g kanthol does that mean anything?

Please please please do not try chasing clouds with out an ohm reader/multi meter, and proper batteries... like if you are not careful your Bat WILL blow up and may injure if not kill you.. i have a nimbus as well. Its a great RDA if used rite... dont chase clouds until you have all that stuff. Its like going into an NFL game without pads. You may be ok for a few but you WILL get hurt if you keep playing. We only say this stuff for your safety!

Definitely need at least a multimeter so you know where your at on resistance. Not knowing what battery your using I wouldn't recommend using your RDA until you know all of your specs. If you really must use it "after reading up on safety" 1 coil of 30ga probably 5 wraps will get you pretty close to 2 ohm and that would be pretty safe. Remember that when you use dual coils "2 2ohm coils" your end resistance will be half= 1 ohm. Just use 1 coil for now, but it would be better to just wait until you can check it with a meter and check for any shorts.
