They made people think smoking was sexy through commercials like this one and the movies..

No one even noticed that it made their clothing, hair and house and especially the BED smell like a gutter full of rat ..... No one seemed to mind kissing a cigarette .... taste?!

Not only that but smoking reduces blood flow to important places .. in men AND women .. And I think it does some kind of a number on hormonal balances or some kind of a thing because since I stopped smoking I am like a rabid wolf when I see a woman. Even more than before.

And I never got the cigarette after sex thing, either. After sex I need a gallon of water and all of the air I can get.

It's amazing to me that they made smoking seem like such a wonderful fresh enlightening sensual experience!! When you think about it, it's just impossible to imagine them pulling that off, romanticizing smoking.

Perception is a powerful thing.. one little word that shapes lives, countries, the world ..

As soon as some of the large companies/corporations jump into vaping, we'll be seeing the same thing. Hell, I've already seen sites selling eCigs as a device to take your vitamins and to get ...... into your system faster than with a pill

That makes sense.. Though I'm not sure anything can be romanticized in this day and time.. I do realize that marketers have more power over the masses than ever before. They can reach people in ways never thought of. Every aspect of a normal persons life is inundated with some sort of advertising influence, now. And this generation, one before it and maybe even one or two before that are born and raised being shaped by marketing.

I've seen that, vaping vitamins and ......!! Kind of ironic that you could go from smoking that makes your :censored: softer to vaping something that makes it harder..

LoL!! You just never know what will happen, these days!!

its easy, for example. Get justin bieber to smoke and you will have million of young girls smoking.

Is that a member of that boyband ... 97 degrees or whatever they are?

Might I ask if you are an ex-smoker?

The reason I ask is that, if you are, you seem to be experiencing Smug Syndrome.

Allow me to explain:

People that have had one habit or vice or whatever you want to call it that managed to quit said habit, then manage to preach to others against it in an effort to feel better about themselves.

Your entire post reads like a self-hating smoker that was finally redeemed in their own eyes and now feels they can tell others how awful it was and why it is so stupid of others to like it, or as you say 'romanticize' it.

I do not smoke. I have not smoked in nearly a year. Yet I also do not interject my not smoking into society in the way you seem to do, which seems to be "OMG LOL HOW ARE THEY SO DUMMB!!!1"

Get off your soap box, if you stopped smoking, thats great. That however does not give you this license of Smug you now seem to think you have attained.

I have no idea why you and at least one other person on here take what I write as me preaching or being a "vaping snob".. No one I've encountered in life has felt that way and I've converted nearly ten people, now. And I hardly know anyone around here, at all...

I don't understand what you're getting at telling me to get off of my soapbox. The post you quoted is nothing more than me being just absolutely incredulous at the possibility that the media was able to pull that off. It had NOTHING to do with how I feel about myself or anyone else. Ø!! Where did I say that smokers were dumb? Where did I imply that I was above them?

I'll tell people how I feel about smoking. I also tell them how impossible it seemed for me to get away from smoking. I've even talked about how much I hated smoking. I sometimes even say that smoking is a stupid thing to do, too bad, it is.

Maybe I was a bit self loathing when I was smoking. I was VERY upset with myself for being chained to something I hated doing. I would always be beating myself up for being weak. I could always get away from ANYTHING but smoking.

What is my crime, there? Not rationalizing it? Facing the fact that of why I was doing it? That is a crime because 90% of everyone else doesn't have the walnuts hanging required to be that honest with themselves and others?

If you don't like that I see cigarettes as an enemy, too bad. They were the worst enemy I've ever been against. And I've had many other enemies who were capable of killing me. But cigarettes were the worst. I hated them and I hate them, now. I don't look down on smokers, I don't think I am above smokers. I sympathize with smokers and make that clear. I am no better than they are - I'm still addicted to nicotine, myself. How many times must I repeat that on here?!

But I didn't even mention any of that!!! So I am not sure why I am sitting here explaining myself. I think any smoker who is offended by anything I talk about must have had a gut full of ignorant condescending non smokers preaching and they're hyper sensitive. It's not fair to compare what I say to that kind of nonsense. And I don't say OMG LOL like some highschool girl!!

As an aside,
I don't preach to others in order to make myself feel better. I've never been that kind of person. When I talk about vaping and how bad smoking was, I'm just almost beaming about how truly happy I am to be free of cigarettes.

Just because I was ...... at myself doesn't mean I felt feel guilty or needed redemption. And if I needed self redemption it would never come of vaping. In my mind I know that I am still an addict. I've accomplished nothing. I've been freed. Big difference.

I read the entire 2 page thread and I had to go back and read again and again. Smug?? I just don't see it. Guess that makes me smug too. Gotta love people who pick fights over silly things or pick apart things to their own need to pick someone apart.

Maybe he has a personal problem with you THE, that's the only way I can even start to justify why Mitchell would have the audacity to even say anything remotely rude.

I say brush it off. I enjoyed this post. It is sad how icons can effect people into thinking things are "cool" or "romantic".

I'll let you know if I do find something smug you've said. LOL

Thank you
I feel so much better knowing that it is only a couple of people who are reading me as a smoker hating :censored: who looks down on people. Bet it's gorgeous, the scenery in PA right now.. Love to watch the seasons change in PA!!
