If we can figure out how we all got here, we can figure out a better way to get newcomers here sooner, before they buy their first E-Cigarette.
I was searching for E-Cig sites(almost all of them arethe SE type by the way) and kept running to these threads. I finally read a few!
I was also getting tired of the "why E-Cigs are bad for you" stuff and wanted something possitive.

I clicked on a random link in a google add for electronic cigs....I don't even remember what supplier it was...that was the start.

Once I knew about them, I ran more and more searches...going through amazon, ebay, etc....reading the available reviews and such. (I tend to research everything to death before I buy).

I found the American forum first, then the vapeatron forum, from there I got this one....and home this one is.

I came across e-cigarettes while searching for cheap cigarettes online. I would research from time to time when I was thinking that cigarettes were getting too expensive. Every time I searched, I would run across e-cigarettes and go try to learn about them (ADD makes me easily distractable). I wasn't convinced by the hype I saw, but I was intently curious. I passed by this forum many times in my google searches because I was looking for suppliers, not discussion. I wanted to find the cheapest one I could to try it out and reassure myself that I wasn't missing anything. I found some reasonable prices on ebay, but most were still out of my budget for a device that I may throw away the first day. I finally talked my partner into letting me spend $40 for one I found on ebay that looked fairly nice, and the seller seemed to sell only e-cigs and their accessories, and the shipping was free, and she seemed knowledgeable (from reading the info in her store). I checked out all kinds of sites. When I got around to coming to this site (thinking maybe I could lurk, learn, and leave), I found TONS of useful information. I started lurking and reading. I found out the supplier I had in mind to buy from was also listed here as a supplier and was a registered member. I went ahead and ordered from her on ebay. While I was waiting for it to arrive, pining away to try it out, I kept reading, and just couldn't help but post. In order to post I had to register. Once registered, I tuned in every day to see if anyone had replied to my post. At that point, I was hooked. I still tune in every day and read and post.

When I found the e-cig I was looking for one of those smokeless ashtrays to use when I go for week long summer school at the collage. add-ons advertising e-cigs from S.E. for $150. From there I googled and found the U.S. E-cig Forum and then found this one from there.
(anyone need a brand new smokeless ashtray?) haha.

That is funny, because I did the same thing. Going smokeless? I thought maybe they had a new improved version, I was right! It was called an e-cig! Who Knew!

I found out about this site when I was Googling e-cigs because one of my wife's guildies in WoW was talking about the Janty Kissbox Classic on Ventrilo and my wife wanted to know what the electronic cigarette was all about (she frequently sends me on Google missions, lol). Then I found some videos on YouTube about e-cigs, came across Leaford's videos and in one of them he mentioned e-cigarette-forum, then when I Googled "e-cigarette forum" I found this place! Thanks Leaford. :D

So began my vaping journey!

Now my father-in-law who smoked analogs for 50+ years vapes and doesn't even crave analogs anymore. Considering he has COPD and a bunch of other life-threatening health problems, e-cigs are already improving his quality of living after vaping for only a month, and more than likely will be gaining back a few more years of his life. His pulmonologist is ecstatic about it.

I tell everyone I meet who sees me vaping around, about these forums. Quite possibly it'll save someone else's life too.

I only heard about e-cigs a month ago. (No, I don't live under a rock, but I live on one, which is pretty damn close...no cable so don't see CNN or other TV reports/shows that showed them...and this rock I live on comes complete with a population of rabid-foam-at-the-mouth-anti-smoking-zealots-so-I-had-to-keep-my-smoking-secret....)

Anyway, a friend of mine told me he was in a bar and saw the "wierdest thing". Some guy just openly looked like he was smoking so my friend thought that was cool and asked the guy about it. He said it was an electronic cig from "Japan". I asked my friend how to buy them from Japan and he said they were extremely expensive. I stupidly believed him and didn't do a web search.

I bought all my cigs from the Indian Res online 2X/year. (Six month supply to save on shipping). The beginning of May it was time for my six month order and when I went online I was shocked at the prices. So, in a panic I decided to check out exactly how expensive those "Japanese" inventions were. Found out what they were and where they were from and did a panic-first-time-buy from ePuffer:rolleyes: and while still searching around, this site popped up......

Thank God!!!!!!!!!!:):thumb:

Waldo, (I just hate calling you Dumb..lol) When I ran across E-cigs and began researching, I wasn't looking for them, I saw an ad for them at the bottom of a site I reading. Who knew there was such a thing to google!:p
Nicowolf, I do believe that was the longest post I have seen by you! Unless of course we are talking about a Nicostick.:)

I was looking last year to see if they updated on smokeless cigarettes like the Eclipse on google and up poped a you-tube video of Dusty "RatintheHat" doing a review of an e-cig at www.e-Cigreview.com --I watched all of his reviews and there was a link to here---so that was it. Dusty does some very good reviews indeed-------Sun

Came across a Q&A discussion on Ebay last August/September on e-cigs; someone gave a supplier link and I bought a super mini without knowing anything about it at all. From there this forum, possibly a link from the same discussion, gained more knowledge and bought a 901; after that the penstyle and so on and so on. So I guess I have to thank Ebay.........

There is a bit of a story attached to how I came here... funny for most of you probably  :D

When there were hardly any international forums yet (as we learned later, this one had just been put up, but was still real tiny with very little traffic so not findable yet on Google either) - both I and, a bit later, Dr. Jim Loi had found the E-Cig China forum (E-Cig China, the supplier, had a forum attached to their shop-site at that time); and over there we were discussing all kinds of things, brainstorming also, and Jim of course was telling about the trials he was doing with his patients. And we both tried to help out any new people coming there with all kinds of problems with their e-cigs (E-Cig put the forum up, but hardly ever posted themselves - and soon stopped doing that alltogether seeing the customers gave them a hard time... often rightly so but well..).
One by one more people found that forum and joined in the talks; and a few of them had also joined a new forum called ECF... (among them TB, that was in the days before he got burnt too much by that company ;) ).

Jim's posts about his trials showed to get altered and sometimes deleted (possibly by chinese government) - not good at all!
Then the few visitors there that also were among those first members here, offered their forum as a new and safer base for posts about Jim's trials, and that was gladly accepted.

I didn't come along at the same time, because this forum was not readable for me (dark blue and dark grey letters on black, ugh... really couldn't read much). Anyhow, when Jim discovered I hadn't come along and only read a tiny bit now and then here, he pulled a 'nice' plan out of his sleeve (meanwhile urging me to come and try anyway)... next time I looked here, he had made a post here in GIANT and screaming-colour text, welcoming and introducing me and asking everyone else on the board to please use that same giant text in all their posts, so I could read along here too...

Wow... I really love being put center-stage (not!) - so while I really did appreciate his caring about me, I only wanted to run far and long and never come back then... but because of the appreciation, also for the very welcoming and friendly reactions from the others here, I couldn't of course...

Well, the giant text's went on for a few days, and then Smokey Joe went to work to change text colors and loads more on the forum to make it all more readable (thanks again Joe! :) ) - and a while after that he even made a choice for people to either take a dark background or a light background.

So uhmm... I guess it has something to do with me, that you guys are having a light background as standard nowadays...
But well, it was a sure way to get to know most of the early members real fast for me, with that rather spectacular entrance-act... and once I got over the embarrassment of it all, it did soon become 'my international home'. Some time later I had to leave for a few months due to RL-stuff; but when I could again, I returned of course; and the rest is history :)
