A co worker who smokes talked to her doctor about quiting. Her doctor said he could not recommend Ecigs but thru his own research he suggested for her to look into it. Well she didn't but i mentioned it to someone who gave me some Greensmokes and I have been analog free and I am vaping a 510 with RedBull flavoring right now. I was wondering if anyone has an interesting story about how they got started.

Well my hubby was doing research on it for about 2 months before he dove in and decided to get us both into it. We haven't looked back since...in 3 months we have both gotten mods, we mix our own fluids and have gotten a few family members and friends to convert. It has been fantastic...we can breathe and taste...my house smells 100% better. Nothing I can say to knock it

I got started back when they first came out. My girlfriend read something about them somewhere and bought one to try out. We tried various models from various vendors over the next few years but never found anything that really "did it" for us. The recent evolution of high voltage vaping has changed that for us. I'm now smoke free, and happy, coming up on 10 weeks. My previous smoke free record was 3 months.

I was stopped by a mall kiosk salesman back in September and purchased a kit. I had no intentions or desire to quit smoking but thought I would give it a try! Since then I have found this forum and studied and read all I could which led me to order a 510, an EGO, a RIVA, and a KR808D-1. I also have tons of bottles of juice and all the DIY stuff! This can be an expensive hobby! I love to vape and have cut down my analog habit from 2 PAD to 3-4 per day and I really don't want those - I just do it for nostalgia I guess! I have pretty much settled in with the KR808 and cartomizers that I purchase pre-filled and refill myself but I have an Elegant Easy on the way to use with my 808 cartos so I'm anxious to try it! I have quite the collection in just 2 1/2 months!

Happy vaping!

I get my brows, lip & chin whiskers threaded (stop laughing :p}) and kept walking past the dreaded mall kiosk (gasp, groan, snort, chortle)

Add insult to injury! I finally stopped and talked with the franchise holder. Lovely young woman. Quite honest.

Explained the model (4081), cartomisers vs atty/cart options, "juice", and why to visit e-cig-forum for more info. She even suggested reviewing other distributers.

Long story short... I did pick up two 4081 bats/charger, carts: hi/med/low (one each menthol/chocolate/coffee) and a 0-nic Vanilla for S&G three weeks ago.

I smoked cigis, cigars, pipes since 1975 (yes, I'm a girl and a licensed tobacconist) Truly wish "digis" were available way back when. I'd have sold them in my shop!

As you call the analogs (too cute) I have not had one since 4:00p.m. 11/07/2010.

Arrugh! This site is not touch friendly *grin*

So... I am now happily vaping away on a 4081, swapping batteries about once a day, swapping carts on a whim (no all-day vape, then again I never found one for the pipe either)

Just ordered an 808 with several pre-filled carts.

This is a very interesting alternative. Quite tasty, too.

Thanks ECF for being here. =}.

Hello!

My first post here and I think this is an appropriate thread to get started.

I had heard about e-cigs through internet ad banners and had done some reasearch into it, but never really pulled the trigger. I was worried about my health as a pack / pack and a half a day smoker for 15 years. The cost was getting ridiculous to me also at about $7 a pack; that was running me about $70 a week when I was too lazy to drive the 20 miles to the indian reservation and mabye save $10. Then, my mother asked me if I had ever heard of e-cigs. My mother was smoking 2-3 packs a day for over 30 years and when she expressed interest, I went into high research gear.

I studied everything I could find on the subject (including this message board throughly) and bought us both starter sets (along with my girlfriend too). My girlfriend and I quit smoking tobacco cold turkey, day one. I have been vaping for almost 5 months now and there is NOTHING I miss about smoking tobacco. I am saving a ton of money and more importantly, my lungs.

My mother still smoked for a couple of weeks after she started vaping but tapered down to no tobacco within only a few weeks of starting. My sister was so amazed at my mother's progress that she was finally convinced to convert to vaping a few months later. My sister's husband finally got on board a few weeks ago. So, now that I've converted 5 members of my family I am working on my friends... and anyone else who will listen.

** P.S. We're All on different versions of the 510

Scotch827/Scott, if you don't know about threading you're not alone! Stick with threading your batteries and avoid cross-threading ;-).

Mall kiosk vendors are honest folk in many instances. Their employees may give a hard sell (they want the commissions to pay their own rent & feed their families) and in some instances over-represent the products. Not cool! Kiosk owners need to know of their employees practices. Please let them know. Take a BC, call the (usually) toll-free number. Talk with the franchisees.

E-cigs are a smoking alternative. May I emphasise ALTERNATIVE. They are not a smoking cessation device. They MAY allow one to transition from traditional tobacco cigis... into a tobacco-free experience.

Did I start on digis to stop tobacco cigis? Yes and No. Glad I tried them? Aye! Yummy, tasty alternatives =}.

I frequented a different message board about cruises since I had been on a few and a thread kept popping up about e cigs. I ignored it for a while anbd then read it to see why it was popular enough to keep on the first page. I had seen the pv before but never was interested. After reading that thread, I did research and bought one a few days later. I haven't had an analog since and that was mid October.

A friend of mine sent me a link to an article he wanted me to read. On that link was an add for the "free trial", so I decided to check it out. Being the suspicious person I am and not trusting anything, I decided to keep digging and some how stumbled across this site. I then spent like 3 days just reading and lurking, learning and gathering information. Trying to understand the good, the bad, and the ugly. I then decided that since it was near that time to go buy a carton of "smokes" that I would just take that "smoke" money and get my first PV. It came in a few days later, in the afternoon, I had one "smoke" that night and haven't hand another one since.

Welcome to everyone.

I have been receiving junk emails from the 'bad distributers' for months, so I've been thinking about it. So glad I didn't go with them.

What got me started, I'll admit, was seeing the Smoke Stik on Letterman in September. I yahoo'ed smoke stik, put in an order and have been hooked! Then I found this forum, bought some Tornados from TW and am loving them and my juice! As I said in another post, I smoked an entire analog this evening and thought I was going to throw up!

here is my story and I am sticking to it ;)
I had seen the NJoy's in the local gas stations and looked at the display, but was like, yeah whatever, gimme a pack of Camel this and Marlboro that for the hubby and went about my coughing choking way. But then I got an email for the free trial... read the fine print. kthanksnothanks. then started googling...i love google. anyway, stumbled upon the greensmoke site, wow, great stuff, pretty website. Lover's pack for 2, WTH??$$ okay, so nevermind...maybe when I get rich I will quit smoking.
then googled somemore. Disposable ecigs! 4 for $12! well let's give it a shot! if we like it, we will spend the fortune to buy a real one. they came in the mail. we both puffed. laughed, and puffed that little thing dry. searched around town for a local supplier like crack heads. couldn't justify the NJoy price (and reviews) found you guys. turned on my nerd powers, researched the crap outta the different models. researched the crap outta the prices...found a site with the LOWEST possible price on eGo's. on sale, sold. send me 2 please. haven't even thought about those analogs since I tore open that package from the very nice mailperson. amazing really.
so far my mother, my 2 best friends, and a few random strangers have switched thanks to my raving reviews about how Vaping has truly changed our lives.
it has.
truly.
now I am obsessed with flavors and whatnot. but heck i am saving money, my kids are into kissing and hugging their stink free parents again. the dog doesn't turn it's head and cough after licking my face, and best of all, thanks to sites like this,
i know i am not alone in this incredible journey ;)

I stumbled into the wonderful world of vaping after my last failed attempt to quit smoking. My mom smoked as long as I could remember, and hit her 1-year quit date recently. I was coming up on my 8-year smoking anniversary.. After failing with the gum and the lozenge and falling right back into my pack/pack and a half per day habit, my boyfriend (severely allergic to smoke, who I just moved in with on Sunday) found out. He was not happy. We talked for a while about it and he was asking me questions, trying to figure out what I needed or wanted to help me quit.

When he mentioned the e-cig in this conversation, I took it to heart. He really wanted me to quit and didn't care what it LOOKED like, just wanted me off the cancer sticks.

Two days later I bought an overpriced (300% markup) cheapo brand from a tobacco shop. Once I realized it wasn't working, I ordered a Blu (yeah yeah I know) and smoked analogs til it got here. THEN I realized that vaping was the way for me to quit, so I ordered 510 cartos to fit on my Blu. The next day I ordered a 510 kit and that was the end of it. The Blu was enough to keep me off the analogs and I still have it, though it sits in a box, I guess for emergencies, or til I find someone who needs it. I'm happily vaping and will never look back. These little things are amazing!!

I have a wife and 2 daughters (13 and 6), none of which like the cigarette smell. Kept hearing on the radio about the FREE E-CIG. Received an email for a FREE trial offer on an E-Cig, put in some info and read the small print " After 2 week free trial is over your credit card will be charged $159 plus $6 shipping. One month from that day and every month thereafter a recurring charge of $55 plus $6 shipping will be billed to you. This charge is for 20 prefilled cart's."

I thought hmm thats pretty damn expensive there must be something else out there. Did the google and found Vapor Talk's website. Ordered a KR808D-1 and waited for it to come. Since then I found this site and realized that vaping is for me and can be alot cheaper when you have knowledge. I have since also received an Inferno and a LR 306 Cisco atty and have not touched an analog since the day my 808 arrived.

I have convinced 2 co-workers to atleast try a pv and one is converted the other is trying :) I'm seriously considering order a set for my parents that smoke and try to convince them to quit. My facebook gets updated often with my success story and pleading for friends to swap.
