Remove the head from the tank
Remove the little silicone gasket that sits on top of the wicks (don't loose it)
Grasp the long, thin air tube in one hand and the base of the head in the other
Wiggle gently and pull the air tube off being careful not to loose the two flavor (loose) wicks that sit on top of the coil (do not loose these, either)

At this time you can clearly see the coil and you can dry burn.

If you want to dry burn the flavor (loose) wicks, grasp them with tweezers and burn using a torch or cigarette lighter.

Be sure to rinse everything again to get rid of the burnt ash before reassembling.

Spider362's advice above was great! I cleaned 5 dirty ones I thought I had cleaned with an alcohol soak, but after disassembling I could see the wicks in the center were really gunked up. Dry burning the coil and flavor wicks did the trick--they look almost good as new.

When doing the dry burn of the coil I could see that the uniformity of the coil spacing was off from the manufacturer, so I neatened them up with a straight toothpick so there was approximately the same distance between the coils. Obviously, I adjusted only after releasing the power button and letting the coil cool down a bit.

Very happy I came across this thread because I should get a lot more life out of my T3 atomizers now!

Just started vaping a little over a month ago, so my experience has been limited. I've done a fair amount of reading up on the cleaning methods on some of the old attys, cartos, and such and am thankful that I came along after the T3 was introduced. Certainly seems much easier to clean and I'm getting fantastic vapor with it. Thanks for the tips on dry burning the gunk off. Works great!

I don't know what any of these things are as I am a vaping noob, is there a good video to show how to do this?

I wonder if one could get replacement flavor wicks and just replace them, only dry burning the coil and wicks they wrao around.....

Has anyone tried that?

I wasn't very careful the first time I tried to clean one and the flavor wicks disintegrated on me, it's easy enough to replace them with cotton though. Or you could order silica wick and replace them that way.

I've had 2 T3 heads die on me in the past couple of days and neither of them was more than 2 weeks old! Only did a simple soak and dry cleaning -- no tear-down or anything. Was working before the cleaning and not afterwards. Any idea of what I've done wrong and/or if they're actually dead? Don't have a multi-meter (yet)...

Well, just from an environmental perspective I would rather re-use things than throw them away. Besides, I need to save money wherever I can.

Does it matter what size wick you get? I see that there are choices from 1 to 3 mm.

I just completed my first rebuild, using 3mm and a coil formed on a 4/40 machine screw. The only real hassle is inserting the insulating grommet on the coil wires. (I dipped the end of the wick in hot wax to facilitate threading through the coil). 6 wraps resulted in 2.4ohms and everything works well.

I'm also still a noob and haven't been able to locate all the info I'm seeking in the vastness that is ECF. Hope this is the right place to ask: I have T2s and not T3s. Superficially they look alike and I am not sure what the difference is. Does the cleaning/rebuild info apply to the T2 as well?

I've only been doing this for three months. A world of confusion, I fear.

The T2 has a top coil, with long wicks to absorb the liquid. (like a Vivi Nova or iClear).
The T3 has a bottom coil, with short wicks to absorb the liquid. (like an EVOD or Pro Tank).

I have tried both and prefer the T3 for flavor and not having to tilt to keep the wicks wet. Both types work well and it's just a matter of choice. (my wife prefers the top coil Vivi Nova)

Don't let all the batteries and liquid dispensing devices confuse too much. A simple battery on a T2 will work about as well as anything. Hobbyists sometimes go overboard with exotic devices.:p
