I have been vaping for several months....9 to be exact. I started out with 18mg nic, found it just wasn't quite enough, jumped up to 24mg and stayed. I recently ran into issues with PG, and had to thin out my collection down quite a bit to just a few juices which are all 24mg. I did alternate between 18 and 24 fairly evenly, because I wanted to step down at some point but wasn't sure if/when that might be possible, let alone necessary.

Now, I am finding that it may be time to step down to 18mg. But I am not sure. How do I know? What are the signs and symptoms that your nic intake is too high and it is time to take it down a notch?

thanks in advance.

There were no signs for me, I just decided to start lowering it by ordering some 6mg of the same flavors or something that mixes well with what I have. I had been using 12mg. mixed half and half to make 9mg more or less. My next step is to either mix down farther or go to 6 completely. I didn't notice a huge difference when I lowered it. I think it's as much the action of vaping as the nic intake at least for me. My goal is to get to 0 by summer, I doubt if I'll stop vaping, just enjoy it way too much, and if I never make it to 0, Oh well.

With some of my decreases I could tell it was time. Started to get a little swimmy headed, mildly uncomfortable feelings. 24 was definitely too high for me so stepping down to 18 went fast. Fairly soon after that 18 started to seem too high, so I gradually reduced to 16, 14, then 12 (doing DIY so it was easy to adjust for gradual decreases).

I stayed at 12 for about a year and then decided to see if I could reduce further, just out of curiosity (and partly because I mixed some 6 for a friend and didn't really notice much difference as I was testing out the mixes). From 12 I went down to 10, 8, and 6. 6 is where I am currently. I have no plans to go further at this time, but who knows?

I haven't done it yet. But I've now started buying my staple liquids (Boba's Bounty, Gorilla Juice, GLV's Deadly Sin, El Kamino, Corrosion, etc) at 12 MG. I currently vape 18, but when I finish that stash, I'll start on the 12. I think it's just a conscious decision. I'm doing it for the pending Vapeocolypse, to make all the bottles of nic in my freezer last a little longer. Hopefully by the time it comes I'll be around 6 MG.

I think it's just a "hey! I think I'll go down a bit today."

My activities tell me. Say, at 24 I am vaping to cover my urges like cigarette usage. If I go to 18, my urges come more often, but, my activities get in the way. Do I survive, or do I get increased urges? Currently, I vape to keep that balance. I don't want to have a vaporizer glued to my hand, but I don't want distracting urges either.

Does that even make sense? Oh-well.

I started at 32 and gradually lowered each time I could go to bed without clutching my PV like a baby with a pacifier. Got down to 6 but missed the TH. I've settled in at 15 and don't plan on dropping below that again. My wife says I'm not as easy to get along with at lower levels.
It's not a set schedule kind of thing, listen to your body and you'll know.

How long have you been vaping? I was able to go from 18mg, what I started at, to 16mg very easily. I noticed no noticeable difference in the throat hit or the frequency of vaping. If you're still vaping alot I'd stay where I'm at for a while longer until your body tells you to slow down. Once you enjoy vaping for the sake of vaping then I'd start to lower it slowly. Good luck and Happy Vaping! :vapor:

It is always time to 'drop' if you can. The goal should be to get low if you can (IMO) Vaping is so much more enjoyable than smoking (IMO) that I do it more so I feel I should be weaning myself down as much as I can. I am at 18 now and want to go to 12 and have started in that direction and will ease my way there little by little (started at 30 yikes!) I might happily stay at 12 and feel I am getting my fix and not getting too much.

Oh My Gosh. Quote of the day! I love this post! Yes, I notice that I am a little more difficult to get along with if I lower my nic too much... At the same time, there are times when it feels like 24 is a smidge too much, but usually it has to do with delivery....dripper on a mech mod... Don't usually get that swimmy feeling with a protank.

Thank you all so much for your input!!!!
