Hi, I am new to vaping and have a small pen like e-cig. I was looking into buying a provari mini and I came across this picture from one of your members. I love the look. So my questions are: is this a zen tank and what kind is it and what size fluid does it hold. Also do I need a ring or something, so that it is flush with the
mod. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

That doesn't appear to be a Zen atty, several vendors (including provape) offer 'beauty rings' for the provari.
The picture is very small on my silly phone, looks like a kayfun variant to me / from what I can see.

Provape has a fairly active sub forum here, get your 5 posts and then check it out. Lots of helpful friendly folks & pictures of all sorts of combos.

Firstly welcome to the forum and congratulations on switching to vaping.
The provari is a solid performer, but as with most device combinations the tanks will not always tighten down flush to the battery. There are beauty rings that can be purchased but there are so many tank and battery combinations possible that it might be hard to find a ring size that fits perfectly on any particular set-up.

The Zen tanks are top notch quality but not for beginners, one needs to build their own coils and wicks and are very fiddly. Some are very good at building some are not. I tried many many times and ended up giving up eventually. In the end I just wanted to vape more than play/build.

Both items you've noted are quite expensive, really good, but expensive, you may do better starting your rebuilding journey with something at a lower price point and move up to those if you're really good at rebuilding.

There are quite a few devices out there now, called "hybrids" they all can vary in design but mostly the connection area(battery to tank) is seamless.

Unfortunately they are mechanicals with no battery protections like you'd get in a provari or any other regulated type device. I would not recommend a "mech" to a new vaper unless they were well versed in ohms law and battery safety first.

I'd continue looking at pictures of peoples set-ups, find one you like that suits you aesthetically and is not a rebuildable atty and where the battery tube is regulated.(at least with some built in protection). Cheers.

I love my Provari and my tanks!
You should know that there's some variance with different "toppers" and different "rings" for the flush connected look.
Some tanks have a longer 510 screw-thingy, and will leave a "gap" to cover with a ring - and some rings are taller some shorter, etc.
It's not a big deal, but it's POSSIBLE to get a tank/ring combo that doesn't work perfectly...

Also, FYI, there's a classified ad right now with some of the best carto-tanks ever made, Provari-style-matched - if you have access to the classifieds (that takes a few days usually)... Not MY ad, but it features several of the same tanks I have.

WilyZ's first on the left looks like an IBTanked "halfling" carto-tank with the IBTanked ProVari ring - a good example of what I was talking about: the IBTanked ring is extra tall, and perfectly covers an IBTanked bottom cap curve - but it's too tall to use with other tanks!

There's an entire thread about Provari Rings and accessories and such somewhere, too!

The tank in your picture is a GG Ithaka. You definitely don't want that one. For a good tank that doesn't require building, any of the carto tanks are nice or you could use a Kanger Mini Subtank but you'd need to use the 1.2 ohm coils in it. My wife has been using a ProVari Mini with the 1.2 ohm coil and she couldn't be happier.

One other way to get a seamless look is to use a smaller diameter tank that matches the beveled end of the ProVari. Tanks that are 19mm in diameter fit nicely on top of a ProVari without a ring. Some examples are the Kanger Emow and Protank, and the Aspire Nautilus Mini. These also have the benefit of being lighter than most 22mm tanks, so your Mini doesn't get topheavy. Good luck finding your new setup!

Just as a side note Dimplegirl, whatever set-up you decide on, do not over tighten the connection just to get a flush look. My son stopped by the other day and he was having some overheating trouble with his set-up.

I had to use locking pliers to remove the tank from the battery. I advised him that putting it on there so tight might not only ruin the battery connection but could easily cause it to short out and cause a battery failure.

With these high power batteries a failure can be disastrous. Finger tight/snug is all thats needed. Cheers.

WillyZee, tell me more. I went to IBTanked and I am so confused. Remember I am a complete newbie here lol. What is a halfing carto tank? What size is good for the provari mini? Would I still need a beauty ring from ProVape to make it flush? Sorry for all the questions. I really like the look of that tank.

You may be in luck!
The least expensive one there is the Innovape M1 Protank, available for $25. #3 from the left.

It's a nice tank - honestly I had trouble with it initially, the O-rings weren't quite right (you want them nice and snug as a tank works by holding a little bit of vacuum when you puff) - BUT they immediately responded and shipped a replacement when I contacted them.

It doesn't have the Provape-style dimples on the bottom part, but does have airflow holes which work - a tank needs a way to get some air in from the bottom when you pull vapor out from the top!

The last one on the right is from Vaperfexion - who closed up shop just a couple months ago...

Train2, who makes those tanks.I like the look fo the 2 on the right.

If you haven't used cartomizers (cartos) up to this point, you should research them here on ecf, as well as other tank styles - replaceable heads, rebuildable tanks and so on. Each has it's pluses and minuses, and require very different types of maintenance. Which type of topper you use will have a significant effect on your flavor, vapor production and juice consumption. If you have a chance to stop by a local vape shop, you may be able to try some out and see which best suits you.

It's as simple as 2 end caps, a glass tube and the replaceable cartomizer down the middle.
You prime the carto with about 12 drops and then use the carto tool to slide the carto through the center of the tank.
It is really quite easy ... the halfling is their smallest tank.
