I wont to make tin box mod. This was sent to my by a friend but its VV and I would like to do VW. what do I have to swap out to make it VW.?

Oh and I'm thinking of making it 1 18650 instead of the 2 18350. would I just swap out the battery box for that?

Thanks in advance for any and all help as this will be my first build.

It would be nice if such things were so simple and consideration free, but, alas, they are not.

Variable wattage is far more complex than variable voltage, when it comes to the circuitry. It does the math and adjustment for you. I know of no direct swap-out that will still make that circuit worth anything.

I'd suggest building it as is, or building one around the DNA20D. The DNA20D has it's own display, is variable wattage, runs on one IMR cell, and has built-in buttons with the option of using external ones, or a potentiometer in place of the digital adjustment buttons. Their site seems to be down at the moment, but there is a ton of info on it here in these forums.

You cannot run the OKR that you show on one 18650, according to it's specs. The input voltage would be too low.

I always suggest doing enough research on the subject to make the build safe and successful. It's hard to say how much is enough for someone else, though.

That link is to the OKR that is pictured in your post. I would prefer something else, personally. I've never used it, so can't say much about it.

It sounds to me like the DNA20D is a much better fit for what you want, but the site (Evolvapor) seems to be down. You may still be able to find a place to look at or buy it by searching Google. There are also a lot of threads in the Battery mods sub forum here that showcase it.

There is nothing wrong with using the OKR-T/6-W12-C. It's quite capable for the purpose, but needs to run on two batteries in series. It's not specifically designed for this purpose, as it's a generic DC-DC converter, so proper design of the rest of the circuit is important. If the design in the OP is proven, then it should be fine.

There are some places that sell the 'Vamo PCB'. It might be more to your liking, but may not have any instructions. It's the control PCB for the Vamo, so it should not need much else. I don't know much about it, but have seen a couple of references to it in the Battery Mods forum:

I can't really recommend anything to you. I'd suggest looking through the forum linked to above for ideas on what you may want to do.

oh wow!

OKR-T/6-W12-C

It is VW (just a "manual" VW)...VW rigs just have intelligence to them...they autocalculate the correct output voltage for the wattage setting and the resistance of your coils...without that intelligence built in...you will have to get very familiar with this chart

power.jpg

All you do is get the resistance of your coil..then dial in the voltage and you should get the wattage you are hunting for

That is a GREAT image and schematic...thanks SO much for posting that part number to the DC-DC power converter!

P.S. You CAN'T make that a single Li Ion setup..mainly because
Voltage - Input (Min) 4.5V

The stacked 18350's give you well over the minimum volts to fire it

Just ran across this if interested
