Well its hard trying to figure it out by pictures alone and youtube videos that arent talking about how the tank itself works but rather, demonstrating an e-cigg itself

how do these tanks work? do u put an atomizer in them? are they just cartomizers?

so far ive seen M1A1 tanks, J-tanks, Surge tanks, clearomizers, ...etc

which one do you get for say a Varitube SS chrome? do you have to do anything special to the tank like drill holes in it?

whats is a fair priced tank?

ok....things like the clearomizers are a mini tank in themselves. They have the atomizer built into them. You fill with juice and the juice is wicked by the atomizer inside the tank. I personally don't like clearomizer because I think they really mute the flavor. I have about 10 in my drawer that I'll never use. The surge tank looks like the type where you put a plastic bottle in with an atomizer and you squeeze the bottle to wet the wick. I've heard alot of good things about this type of tank, but never tried them myself. The other type of tanks, like MAP tanks and J-tanks have either a CE2 atomizer or a regular cartomizer. What you see in the CE2 tanks is the wick/atomizer. The cartomizer tanks have a cartomizer inside them. The cartomizer has a small hole punched into it and the juice absorbes into the carto via that small hole. You can either buy pre-punched cartomizers or buy unpunched ones and punch them yourself. Hope this helps you.

wow you know how to summerize that right up! that pretty much does it, i guess my only question is, whats the differences between a j tank and a map tank? they are just one in the same for the most part, just different designs but same principal? and how the heck do they seal up to a 510 connection? thank you for your assistance so far

The J-tank uses cartomizers and the MAP tank uses the CE2's. Some people prefer cartomizers, some CE2's. The tanks are sealed by the end caps. End caps are made of either delrin (a type of hard plastic), rubber or 0 rings. This provides the seal so the tanks don't leak. They've really come a long way in the past few years. Most tanks don't have leaking issues around these seals any more, unless the tank is very old and the o rings or rubber melts. If you are looking seriously into tanks, I'd suggest you get something with either delrin or o-ring seals. The rubber end caps have been reported to melt over time because of the chemical reation between the rubber and the juice.

While it may sound like a strange way to make a seal, it's really very effective. I've never jumped rope with an ecig in hand, I'm alittle past that particular stage in life..lol! But you can do most things to a tank and not have them leak. I have dropped my APV with tank on, on a floor and it did not loosen or cause the tank to leak. I'm sure if you're bent on making it leak, you could, but for general purposes, they don't leak.

ce2 = clearomizer where the coil is up at the mouthpiece and the wick draws liquid up to the coil form the tank that you fill.
ce3 = smokymizer where the coil sits at the bottom near the battery and liquid is drip fed to the coil.

A Genesis atomizer is a rebuildable atomizer. You have to know something about how to rebuild atomizers, which I don't..lol! to get something like this. If you use the ECF google search, you can probably find alot more info on them that way. Or maybe someone more experienced with them will see this thread and respond.

I recommend watching Scott videos on youtube , hes username is "igetcha69" in youtube and he have plenty of tutorials regarding rebuildables and covers much of the ones availables including the popular genesis style attys.

At first when you see it will look like something hard and full of hassle but to be honest the whole process of rebuild any takes less than 10 minutes and with couple of trys you will be doing it like bread and butter lol
