You can get cheap Ego style starter kits from many places for $25 or less. They are usually sufficient to get most people off of cigarettes. Walgreens, Wal Mart and mny tobacco shops have the starter kits. You can get them cheaper on line. Here is one place. Electronic Cigarettes | E-Liquids - MyFreedomSmokes
The places that offer free starter kits will likely be your most expensive option in the long run.

Agreed. Those "free starter kits" are cigalikes and they require you to sign up for a subscription for overpriced replacement cartridges.

+1 on this. Do Not Order "Free Trials"!!!

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping and/or looking to upgrade.

While true that most of these rope you in to outrageous, recurring payments for cheap cig-a-like kits, there are a few I know of that are legit. Green Smoke offers a "free" starter kit for only $1 shipping with no further obligation. It comes with a cig-a-like battery, charger, and several cartridges in menthol and two different tobacco flavors. The carts were a bit too spendy for me to continue using once the free samples ran out, but for only a buck it could be a good way to test the waters and find out if e-cigs are even right for you.

If you stick with it, and end up getting something that takes refill liquid ("e-liquid" or "e-juice"), you can get a free 12ml bottle from Vista Vapors (again, "free" isn't really free, as they do ask for a $1.99 shipping charge). The free sample link is vistavapers.com (that's vapers, with an "e". Might seem a bit sketchy at first, but I've seen it referenced from their main Vista Vapors website so you know it's legit.) Or, for about 8 bucks more, you can get a little starter kit to go along with your free liquid, if you don't have something to vape it with already. (I don't know much about the kit they offer, as I only got the free liquid when I signed up since I already had a kit that I picked up from a local shop for way too much money -- the only saving grace was that I had a Groupon for the place which got me $10 off and brought it down to a more reasonable price.)

i you really just want a freebie go sign up for coupons on camel.com -- and as your doing that you will see a check box for "I am interested in Electronic Cigarettes and smoking alternatives" or something to that effect.

They use 48mg nicotine ejuice, so that's way more than I'm used to so they are of little use to me... I have a pile of coupons for free or $1 vuze disposable eciggs... I have been meaning redeem them and drop them off at a homeless shelter I just haven't had the time lately. They have been sending them very often lately...

but don't give up on eciggs because you don't find a vuze you like :) they are not the best...

As one of the people that stepped all the way from cig a likes to mods, I would recommend going to a local vape store and asking for a good entry level vape stick. You're looking at $50-70 USD but you will save all the money on trials and upgrades in between. Then you will be ready to decide how far you want to go from there. A carton of cig are close to the $60 range unless I'm mistaken.
