I've read some FAQs and even watched a video on Youtube about how to clean a cartomizer, but I'm still confused.

For example, the guy in the video I watched takes a tissue and wipes the outside of it and says some residue came off. But how do you clean the inside of the cartomizer?

I can only assume that most of my residue is on the inside of the cartomizer where the cartridge (and liquid) comes into direct contact with it.

Obviously I can't stick a tissue in there, especially since the sharp ridges inside will tear it apart.

I don't have any vodka so soaking it in any alcoholic beverage is out.

Can I just soak it in water overnight?

Clear out as much juice as you can, drop them in boiling water for a few minutes- don't boil plastic cartos on the stove. Metal or plastic I usually just use a coffee cup to boil some water in the microwave then drop them in. If you have a strong juice you are trying to clear out of it you can soak it in vinegar for a minute or two also. Then rinse, blow out all the water you can, and let it dry. I think some people put them in the oven on a very low setting to help them dry.

Just to enhance what's already been stated, here's a good video:

A PBusardo Tutorial - How I clean my Boge 510 LR Cartos - YouTube

Plus, Pbusardo's vids are always entertaining.

I've used that method and while it does work, the performance is just not the same...at this point, when I am ready for a new one, the old one hits the trash...afterall, they are CHEAP, meant to be disposable...at less than a buck 50, gimme a nice fresh new one!!!!!!!
