how do you go about choosing a flavor?

will be ordering my first kit tomorrow with juice. all ive had to this point is the gas station regular highs for the last 5 /2 months. the first i had was green smoke but they always ran out and at 14.99 per single use it wasnt my thing although they did taste better than these. guess ive gotten used to these though as they arent so bad now but im taking the plung and getting a kit and juice....so...
how does everyone decide on a specific flavor you might want? trial and error? a smell you like?
some things i like to eat or like the smell of but im having a problem thinking about vaping it. im planning on getting a 30 ml bottle of marl flavor and maybe some 10ml bottles of say Cinnamon and spearmint and trying to think of others.... decisions

Welcome to your long and arduous journey into the wonderful world of juice. You've got the right idea... pick a flavor and try it! I would suggest getting smaller sizes to start... stuff that looks/sounds good can turn out to be bad, or tasteless. It sucks buying a large quantity of juice you don't want to vape. Even the same flavors from different vendors taste different. Make sure you like a certain flavor from a certain vendor before you order in quantity.

Before I even ordered my kit I read all the reviews and did searches for what juice was recommended for people that smoked the same cig as I smoked. Saw one recommended over the others and ordered it. Still vaping it.

Now that I've been vaping I know that no juice tastes like a cig which is a good thing IMO. Also didn't know I'd have a love affair with fruit flavors.

But I did get really lucky and liked the first juice I ordered.

My Mom had a harder time with tobacco juices. Tried sever different vendors, a bunch of diffent juices until she found one she likes (BWB Casablanca). My sister has only vaped one juice (Vapor Station Tampa) she doesn't even want to try other juices.

Samples, samples, samples. Please don't waste money (and time) on 30 ml bottles of anything you haven't tried before. I did and ended up giving it away. You'll eventually find a favorite.

I had trouble finding juice I liked that liked me, lol. So, my advice is to try it in small doses. That way, not much lost if it doesn't work. I had a time finding what I liked, but it was very much worth it. Diy is fun too, when you are ready! And, with a holiday here, you should infd alot of sales to help save $$$.

People on the forum helped me alot in finding flavors. Backwoods Brew, Nitelitevapor and Alien Visions are all very popular around here and after trying their stuff I know why. They aren't expensive either.

+1 samples, trial and error.

I only vape tobacco flavors, which simplified it, but there are still hundreds of varieties. I tried some flavors "popular" on ECF, none worked for me, stopped after 30 odd flavors and picked a couple I liked. Noticed many vendors make "families" of juices that share a common taste, so one or two will tell if you like. Taste is completely personal, no short cuts. Start with quality, reliable vendors.

When I have to buy stuff I look at all that suppliers juices and see if there is any that sound like they are in my likes as far as my taste goes.

How do I try flavors? I wait until I have some money to spend on juice and I try some flavors. It has all been trial and error for me. I've had some disappointments and I've had some great surprises. It's the one thing that is tough to seek advice about because it is so personal and subjective. It's also one of the funnest things about vaping. Have a great time seeking out your faves!

Case in point: I just ordered the following from Juicy Vapor:

6 ml French Toast
6 ml Wake n Vape
6 ml Green Ecto (something)

I have no idea what these are going to taste like, but someone on here recommended Juicy Vapor and these were some of the most popular on their site. It'll be a surprise. I'll probably like one of them. If I'm lucky I might really like a couple. Maybe all three will be great.

I just got an order from Juicy Vapor today. I went there because someone had posted about the sampler specials. I grabbed 6 3ml samples that sounded interesting. I haven't been doing this long enough to really know what I like yet, so I got a mix with some florals, some sweet, and some spicy/savory. I plan to do it again in a few weeks (need to burn through some of my already-decent stash of juice before I buy more) and as I go along, I'll have a better idea of what types of flavors appeal to me.

I also ordered a custom recipe, and even though I had no clue how it would turn out, I love it. It's cinnamon, clove, spearmint and menthol. It's like smoking a gourmet tic tac. I needed something intense and with a heavy body to get me through the more extreme analog cravings, and this is definitely doing the trick. It leaves an aftertaste like my favorite toothpaste, which is a bonus. Leaving me with fresh breath is just one more thing that analogs never did.

After spending over 1k on juice........I finally figured it out. There are basically 3 flavoring companies........PA, FW, & LA. All of these "juice vendors" pretty much use flavoring from either one of those. After vaping for a while, I can diy most anything I come across. However, Alien Visions has the most complex juices i've come across! There is no way I can begin to think about DIYing their stuff. (Although I'm pretty close to sweet tart) lol

I have tried several sampler flavors and I love the sites that offer them. I'm stuck on want2vape right now because their flavors are spot-on and the nicotine is nice and strooooong! I also like gourmetvapor but they literally have SO many flavors (and many user-developed falvors) that it's hard to really determine which ones are the best. In any event...all of our favoirtes are subjective and you really just have to go for the 'big plunge' and spend a bit (or quite a bit) and experiment until you find what is right for YOU. Trying the Juicy Vapor eliquids after the ELPs was a whole different experience. At the risk of sounding like a stupid commercial, it's been like a flavor explosion. That said, I'm just getting started and haven't had a chance to try out many of their flavors. It's also worth noting that they are one of the companies that make their juice to order.

eJuice is SOOOO subjective. You really have to try ALL types of flavors and spend quite bit in the beginning. Whatever gets you off analogs is what works for YOU. I like only a few analog-ish flavors; otherise, I like caramels and chocolates and some coffees but don't like fruit for drink lavors. That's totally independent of what you would like I'm sure. You really have to find tha perfect balance for YOU among flavor, vapor, and nicotine. Find sites that have good sampler options (my fave sampler was want2vape.com) and then decide which flavors you would like to vape every day in bulk. Most sites have their own twitter and facebook feeds that have discounts...wait for those then make a killing!

im just always a bit leery of a vendor with like 498579million flavors of juice.
