My experience with Efest wasn't ever that great. But when you start noticing that it's not hitting well or producing the amount of vapor that you're used to gettting, it's time. I love my Sony VTC4's though... they last a lot longer and hit harder! Give it time and you'll start to know when you need to change your battery. Just like adding more juice, you'll know hehe.

Voltage meter. Either pull it and check it periodically. Twist on a 510 volt meter and fire it. Or learn how it 'hits' over time.

I just ordered a bunch of batteries from day one. Dated them, and put them in rotation. Before I go to bed, and when I get home from work I swap them. They never get low, and they all get used evenly. If I was going to go on a charger free trip somewhere I would bring my 510 volt meter so I could check them easily. And a spare or two in a plastic - secure - case.

A battery usually SLOWLY drops in voltage from 3.7ish down to 3.2 throughout its life....so really, its whenever you want... I used to look out for my battery's health by using it till it dies but nowadays I just swap out batteries when it starts to get boring....maybe around half way (3.5Vish)

Batteries come off the charger at 4.2v. Or in the case of most regulated chargers like the nitecore 4.16-4.18.

Deep cycling lithium ion is also not required or smart. You are confusing nickel metal hydride with Li-ion.

So yeah...
