I'm currently using an eGo and hope to pick up a Mini soon. When the battery on the eGo is done, it flashes several times and stops working. Since the REOs are completely mechanical without even an LED, how do you know when to swap the batteries? Do they shut themselves off? Does the performance suddenly degrade or do you have to sorta guess that it's getting low?

In the past month since owning my REO I have been wondering the same thing. I always think it's my atty or carto dieing. Sure enough, once I switch batteries it's back to perfection.

I can tell by the performance of my atty or carto.

When you use non-proprietary batteries, you don't want them to ever fully discharge, it shortens their life.

Thanks for this info. I never knew that.

buy a multimeter and don't let your imr batteries drop below 3.5v

I really need to get one of these.

I'm using a box mod, a similar device than the REO, I switch battery around every 3-5 hours depending on usage, it's quite overkill but nothing beats a fresh battery. One battery could last me a whole day, they're 900 mAh but that's okay, I have 2 chargers that can charge up to 4 batteries at a time, so I use 4 battery a day and charge 'em all at the same time.

After many many hours...about 12.....when I get home from work, I switch batteries and charge the one I've been using all day. Then at bed time I put the battery that I have been using after work on charge overnight. Perfect. By the time I get home from work, I'm not really noticong any drop off in performance. I have the aw imr18650 high drains from supertmanufactruing.

I change the battery on my mini about 3 times a day with heavy use, that why while the mini is cute and small and don't get me wrong I do like it a lot especially now that my door doesn't fall off any more (I had lost a magnet and didn't realize it, d'oh, Rob to the rescue Yay!) I love my Grands I change the battery once every 24 hours if it needs it or not and most times its not.

I like that idea. Just switch and recharge frequently. As far as I've gathered it's actually better for the batteries.

Strange how one evolves in this hobby.
  • NJOY - When I first started, it was with a 180mah N-Joy, from a 7-11. That batt & carto lasted me a whole day, at first. Within a couple of days, however, it was clear I needed more.
  • eGo - Then, I went to an eGo. While I'd switch out the carto, the 750mah batt seemed to last me a day. Soon, however, I was going through 2-3 batt and refilling cartos 5 or more times, in a given day.
  • Go-Go - After that didn't cut it, I went with a go-go. Its 1300mah batt and 3ml carto could get me through a day, at first. Then I started reloading cartos, thorughout the day. Still, the Go-Go is a great portable and hassle-free system that I intend to keep around, and have introduced several new vapors to. It's currently the best starter PV, in my opinion, but it's got muted flavor vs. dripping or a box mod.
  • Reo Mini - Got it a while ago and love it! Initially, I liked it so much, initially, that I found myself wondering why I ordered that Grand. I even toyed with the idea of selling my Grand, for a backup mini. When I 1st got the mini, I'd go thorough two batts/bottles in a day. Day before yesterday, I expended two 14500 batts in a couple of hours.
  • Reo Grand - Too big to be portable, but this thing seems to last me all-day. I'm also really liking its 6v potential. So, it's now my ideal home/office/car PV. But I still like having the Go-Go and Mini, for when I'm on the go.

I wonder, however, how long it will take me to outgrow the Grand. Geez, just how much will I be vaping, a year from now. Is there a diesel-powered PV, on the horizon? Is there a vendor that sells juice in 55gal drums? Geez.... :p
