How far do you push your batteries?

I use pretty much all AW IMR 18650's but the question is relevant to whatever battery you might be using I think. I know its bad for the battery to be completely discharged but what about re-charging it early? If you're going to town and you have a battery that is performing fine in your mod but you figure you should probably swap it out before you leave--you will end up charging that battery before you use it again--right? Now will that use up one of the finite number of re-charge cycles in that battery or does it matter less since its only a partial recharge? Should one try to run the battery to near its useful discharge to get maximum life from it?
(I asked this question on the "Ask a Veteran" board some months ago and made the mistake of referring to a 14500 battery in phrasing the question. The veteran spent almost his whole reply telling me what crappy batteries 14500's were and barely touched on the basic question).

This is not intended to denigrate your question, but I don't care about the number of battery cycles. The greatest thing about the REO is that I don't have to worry about that stuff anymore. When I want a fresh battery, I pop one in. I keep five in rotation, and when they die, I'll replace them.

Call me a lazy vaper :)

Vie noticed that after 4-6 hours that my batteries aren't hitting as well as they were when I first put them in, so I swap them out then. I don't think I have kept one in longer then 6 hours of use yet, I hear people say that these batteries can last for more then a day, but I can't get them to ladt for more then 6 hours for me. But then again I'm vaping about 10-15ML a day, so that might be the reason. But these aw imr batteries are only $10.00 each, so when we have to replace them, I bet we will have gotten our monies worth, but to answer your question, I have heard of people talking about iPads and how if you charge them before they are in need of being charged that it doesn't count towards the life of the battery, like maybe 4 half charges will add up to 2 full charges, that's what vie read though.

Never really worry about it. I re-charge all the time early.
When they die they die. Batts are cheap in the grand scheme of things :)
Thats easy for you to say, Tim. You're not a starving unemployed logger who doesn't know where his next battery is coming from.......and isn't sure he'll have a window to throw the old one out of.

Oops, forgot this--:) I do tend to exaggerate.

What's the best way to know when to recharge the IMR batteries? I too have read about the warnings not to completely discharge them or the world will end, possibly melting, etc but what's the best way to determine this without having to pull out the multimeter? Also what is the voltage that should be the cutoff, 3.5?

Thanks

I use 1 battery. Every night before bed I pop it out and stick it on the charger. I have had better luck this way rather than waiting on it to die.

I wouldn't sleep and charge the battery at the same time, it lessens the life of the battery and what if you wake up to a cloud of smoke and fire (happened to me once when my father forgot to turn off the stove)? Get two batteries, charge one while vaping on the other and then take out the battery from the charger when the light goes green.

If I'm not happy with the vapor production, I check to make sure I have enough juice in the carto, then think about how old the carto is, then change the battery, and the vapor production doubles and I go ahh that was the problem. If the vapor production doesn't change, I put a new carto in it and then I get double the vapor, and realize that it wasn't the battery.
