How do you manage battery charging?

Just got my e-roll today and trying to figure out a method to make sure that everything is charged up when I leave home in the morning. Have had the pcc with one e-cig in on charge for about 5 hours and both lights are still on. My understanding is that each would go out when the battery is fully charged and it should not take this long to top off either battery. Problem is that my second e-cig is now dead after a few hours of use but can only charge one at a time.

How do you manage your battery charging and how long does it typically take to charge each item?

Thanks!

Initial charging (when just unboxed) and later (daily use) charging is different.

Initial: Charge PCC without an Eroll battery in it until red light goes off.
Once you know the PCC is fully charged then charge an Eroll in it with or without the PCC plugged in.
Personally, I leave the PCC plugged in while charging all the Erolls I'm taking out (usually 10 of them.) When they're all charged, I leave the PCC plugged in until its fully charged.

Edit: Many others on this subforum have posted about the same problem you're having and its because they try to charge an Eroll battery in the PCC before it has been fully charged the first time unboxing. I don't know why initial charge of the PCC by itself is required but it is.

What patkin said. I used the eRoll daily for about 2 months. After the initialncharge, I topped off both batteries and simply rotated as needed. I also invested in the PCC carry case so I was able to carry a second fully assembled unit with me at all times. The PCC lasted me a full day with 2 fully charged batteries as well. I also invested in a TankPack to carry six additional tanks with me. It's pricey, but at the time I felt it was worth the investment. I reccomend it to anyone who plans to use the eRoll exclusively.

I agree. I've been using this for a year and it still amazes me. I have bigger setups with bigger toppers I use all day too and when I hit the Eroll after one of those, the vapor and TH are the same and sometimes better. I still sit and look at it between my fingers in disbelief. Its the 3.7 regulated volts with a super good atty though... good things come in small packages they say and its sure true of the Eroll.

Thanks for the feed back. My pcc finally finished charging and seems to work OK now. Now I'm curious what the proper practice is for normal use during the day. I leave home in the morning with two fully charged e-rolls and the pcc. Should I store the one I'm using in the pcc so it continually recharges until the tank is empty and then switch to the back up e-roll? Or, just use one e-roll until it either runs out of juice or the battery dies and then switch? I would think that it would help battery life to use until dead instead of constantly topping it off after each use.

I do it both ways and haven't really seen any difference. I know some get technical about how to charge li-ons but really the battery is so small that if your don't top off fully and don't let it discharge fully (I've heard arguments on what's best)... first where is that charging sweet spot and even if you knew it would be such a small area so I just don't think about it. The batteries... both PCC and Erolls have lasted me so long longevity-wise that its a non-issue. I haven't had one reach its life span yet. Everything still works as well as when I got them. True, I do use and rotate a lot of them but, still, using 10 at $10.00 a piece is $100.00 and I've heard of big batts near that cost that haven't lasted this long. Anyway.. I'm rambling.. I promise I don't work for Joye or Ovale LOL. Anyway, trying to say do it however you like really. As I said, I carry a lot of the charged up and just carry the PCC as a fail safe in case they all reach their life span at once because I bought them pretty well all at once. With all those, I don't bother recharging while out so the PCC is never carrying one. If I carried two, I think I would probably take the fully charged one out when its done charging. They say you don't have to but I would... I just don't like leaving a battery that's done still in a charger. But, that's just me. I would just carry a little knife case or something to carry the two fully charged ones in.

Actually, keeping everything topped off is said to be the best practice with Li-Ion. Something to do with the internal chemistry responds better to not being fully discharged. In practice, I found that I would nearly empty a tank well before the battery died, so I would just switch eRolls once the tank got low. Remember that once the tank gets below 1/3 of full, it will start to leak a bit. Seemed to work fine for me, though I only used mine for about 2 months but I pumped around 3 ml a day through the little buggers.

On mine the PCC LED goes green when it's fully charged. The eRoll LED will just shut off.

I just charge mine over night, knowing its not best practice but I do charge it in a metal container which is sitting in a place where nothing will ever catch fire. Same goes for my smartphone.

Both eRoll and PCC have a drain protection so you don't need to worry about draining them too much, which is damaging to Li-Ion batteries. They have no memory effect either so you can just keep them topped off and charge them whenever you want.

If you store them for a long time its best to discharge them to about 40-60% and store in a cool place. I read this in a technical paper on Li-Ion batteries but forgot to save the link, sorry.

One eroll will fire between 15 to 25 minutes depending on how you use it. You can fully charge it off the PCC about ten to eleven times. Simple math here: The PCC has a 1000 mAh battery, the eroll 90mAh. Charging an eroll takes around 15 to 20 minutes on my PCC. I've been using it everyday since August 2013 now.

Has anyone had their battery or PCC die yet? I'm still using the original kit I purchased in Oct 2012. Bought a few extra batteries but the original PCC charge still lasts all day.

I just use one battery (and 6 carts) and just put it back in the charger when I'm done vaping. Rarely do I vape long enough to kill the batt but if I do I probably need a break anyway. One ppc charge gets me thru an entire day and evenings. I am confident enough in the system to be comfortable with only carrying one batt. Never had an issue in over 2 years :)
