I can work plastic LED cap off with a knife.
Removing the pressed in threaded end is more difficult.
To much heat and you will damage internals.
I cut off threaded end about 1/2" from end.
Then separate the threaded piece, make mod, press piece back in the shortened tube.

Well...I have a 510 and it's grey. I assume it's an "ash cap". Isn't it???

(I need to pull it off to see if I can modify it/replace it somehow)

My 510 manual does not have a slot. My other batts have slots which sometimes chiped when I tried screw driver method.

Oops, sorry! I have 4 auto bats and 4 manual bats that all have slots so it looked like a standard to me. Without slots, I guess it would have to be the heat and knife method.
