put the flat end of the battery (-) in first (big end of sb with spring) screw top on(small end of sb) attach atty on to connector

you should be good

Just so everyone knows....it appears there was a misunderstanding in this thread. Slighter posted a pic that apparently was not visible to all members. I myself could see it but we now have information that to others, his post appeared blank. Which then prompted 420smiles's response.

I've seen this issue before but have no idea what causes it. So in case you couldn't see Slighter's pic, it showed a disassembled SB, so the OP could see all the various parts next to each other. I do believe it was meant to be helpful.....and I do believe because 420 could not see the pic and thought a blank post was made just to be 'douchey', he responded in defense of the OP.

Hopefully this clears up any misunderstanding.
