How do you take your hits?

I'm new to the vaping scene, I just got my first kit 5 days ago. So far I'm loving it, but I do have a question about how to smoke the vapor.

I've seen conflicting threads.

Some say you just smoke the vapor as you would a cigarette. Slowly create a vacuum in your mouth, and inhale.

Others say you should smoke it like a cigar. Slowly create a vacuum in your mouth, fill your mouth with vapor, hold for a few seconds, and release.

Personally I've just been inhaling it, but after reading the cigar stuff, I've now been doing 50/50

Is this just a preference thing, or is there some science behind it that makes one method better than the other?

Edit: Also, when I inhale, why does no vapor exhale, but when I hit it like a cigar, there is a ton of vapor?

I would say it's definitely a preference thing. If you pull into your mouth without inhaling, you won't get the throat hit, and that might lead to a less satisfying experience (depending on your original smoking habit). I tend to do a measure of both techniques and partially inhale sometimes, while deeply inhaling at other times, depending on my mood.

Personal preference and dependent on your atomizer. Some atomizers take different techniques for maximum vapor. My rba has an air adjust screw so I can adjust the tightness of the vape. I can take lung hits, or just the puff puff cigar type hits. I always inhale, and love taking nose hits, or what they used to call the French inhale. I rarely blow vape rings, since that's just a waste of a good vape hit. lol.

So toke it dear friend, but dont toke to fast, if your draw aint tight enough you can sti- er.. nevermind..
Somehow.. Clarance Carter's "strokin" got stuck in my brain.. ...*little twitch*
Personally, i have a habit of pulling it into my mouth, then letting it out and inhaling trough my nose.. amazingly i never liked this with cigs.

I've been searching through pubmed for days now trying to find relevant information on the topic of nicotine absorption via vaping vs smoking. Unfortunately, I haven't found any significant information.
It is my belief, albeit NOT to be taken as scientific evidence, that the particle size of vapor vs smoke will cause significantly lower absorption in the lungs vs oral and nasal membranes. Similar to the transmucosal and nasal delivery nicotine replacement therapies offered by Big Pharma, I believe this is where most of the nicotine is being absorbed from our vapor.
That being said, I try to take advantage of all three localized tissues: long draw into the mouth, hold for 1-2s, inhale into the lungs, exhale through the nose.
I try not to be so clinical all day long, but I'm only two weeks into the vaping scene, so first thing in the morning I try to maximize my nicotine exposure to ensure I don't "cave in" and light up.

That being said, whatever way you try that keeps you off the death sticks is YOUR right way.

Yep. I did both with cigarettes and, so far, I'm doing both with vaping.
