Oldeerthandirt--that verbage has been used here for as long as I can remember and there really is no other way to state it--so take it for what it is worth--ADVISE------Sun

Ooops. Hope there wasn't a disconnect there sun, Just sayin it made me chuckle....

Before you throw it away, use the pipe attached and shoot some WD-40 into it, do the blow/suck/blow/suck a few times and see if it comes back I have saved a few of my wife's batts that way. Wipe it off well before doing this, though, and the batt will taste funny for a bit...let it sit overnight before using (let the excess evap).
Worth a try, huh?

Otherwise Radio Shack has a spray cleaner/lubricant for electronic tuners. You spray it on, shake out the excess and let it air dry. I've used it before on tuners and volume controls.

Another thing, I recall previous threads where folks straighten a paper clip and gently inserted into the battery hole to it to free the switch.

I have to agree with the smuck fog person, convert them into manual switch USB pass-throughs or chuck them. I have completely stopped using batteries (except for the Kissbox batteries which are completely enclosed), because they are prone to early failure.

I possess no technical ability to make one fortunately. However, if it's a very simplistic task I can have my friend teach me how to solder and get one done. I've watched video tutorials. Looks fairly simple

Anybody out there as n00b as me and accomplished this?

Oops..I just ran an experiment. Through about 1/2" of 90% Isopropyl alcohol, it was 6.8 meg ohms...Not a problem....Never mind.

I like the isopropyle alcohol idea because I'll actually get the crap out. Anybody got a dead battery that wants to make a how to video? I'm sure one of you guys have a dead battery around and how many people would bennifit from this would be astounding.

I can do it on my own but I think it would be a good move at saving people a lot of money

If you ever take apart one of these batteries as I have many times--you will find that the wheel switch is in a housing--if you try to stick something up the battery hole you may get a result by hitting on the housing and possibly unfreezing the switch--as for washing the inside out, that simply will not work as the water/alcohol will have a real problem getting in there and if it does--it is not going to come out of the housing very easily---these batteries really are junk compared to what they could be---Sun

I didn't own a soldering iron, solder,a multimeter or anything else pertaining to working on electrical stuff,I watched Nicowolf's videos and followed her advice and have built a couple of battery box mods that work unbelievably well.
I built a 3 x AA box that has a battery charge life of well over 60 hours of straight and heavy vaping!!!

Posted here pertaining to cleaning batteries and their evil switches,I had a little luck with swishing the connector end in Iso alc. and tapping them on a hard surface...THEN standing them on end outside on a steel plate in the sun (Southern Cali.) to dry out,
We had a few days where It's been in the upper 80's during the past few weeks.

However they seem to start sticking again after just a couple of days.

I tried the spray ( electronic cleaner ) and it killed 2 batteries. I would not recommend it.
