I got 4 battery's dead from a gooed up pressure switch, one JUST became unusable. How do I go about this?

Suck in on the battery hole and wack it hard down on a table---if that dos not work --call it a day------Sun
While I know your advice is correct and does work, there's something in the wording that just made![]()
Oldeerthandirt--that verbage has been used here for as long as I can remember and there really is no other way to state it--so take it for what it is worth--ADVISE------Sun
Ooops. Hope there wasn't a disconnect there sun, Just sayin it made me chuckle....

Um..alcohol (not pure...95% is the best you'll get) conducts electricity, doesn't it? How do you prevent a dead short of the battery?Try alcohol in center hole; shake, then blow.
Oops..I just ran an experiment. Through about 1/2" of 90% Isopropyl alcohol, it was 6.8 meg ohms...Not a problem....Never mind.Um..alcohol (not pure...95% is the best you'll get) conducts electricity, doesn't it? How do you prevent a dead short of the battery?
I have to agree with the smuck fog person, convert them into manual switch USB pass-throughs or chuck them. I have completely stopped using batteries (except for the Kissbox batteries which are completely enclosed), because they are prone to early failure.

I didn't own a soldering iron, solder,a multimeter or anything else pertaining to working on electrical stuff,I watched Nicowolf's videos and followed her advice and have built a couple of battery box mods that work unbelievably well.I possess no technical ability to make one fortunately. However, if it's a very simplistic task I can have my friend teach me how to solder and get one done. I've watched video tutorials. Looks fairly simple
Anybody out there as n00b as me and accomplished this?
If you ever take apart one of these batteries as I have many times--you will find that the wheel switch is in a housing--if you try to stick something up the battery hole you may get a result by hitting on the housing and possibly unfreezing the switch--as for washing the inside out, that simply will not work as the water/alcohol will have a real problem getting in there and if it does--it is not going to come out of the housing very easily---these batteries really are junk compared to what they could be---Sun
Otherwise Radio Shack has a spray cleaner/lubricant for electronic tuners. You spray it on, shake out the excess and let it air dry. I've used it before on tuners and volume controls.
Another thing, I recall previous threads where folks straighten a paper clip and gently inserted into the battery hole to it to free the switch.
