From what I gathered. When I told people that I used 30% flavoring they said it was WAY to much flavoring. Most people suggested that I only use 2-3% for tobacco juices. dessert and fruit flavors are recommended to start out with 3-5%. Do agree that the flavoring should be a little higher. Lowered some of my flavoring in juices to 10% to see if it fairs any better.

Also, I've heard that adding too much flavoring can lead to no flavor. The Butterscotch juice that I made with 30% flavoring seems ok but, I don't taste it that much. So, that theory has some truth to it.

Use a juice calculator and it will factor in the percentage of nic you want with the flavoring factored in.

I don't think you got my question. I do use a calculator and I know what percentage of flavor works for me. I'm just curious when ordering juice from a vendor and you select 3x flavor, what exactly do they do? Is it really 3 times as much flavoring added? Do they adjust the other ingredients so your nic and pg/vg stays the same? Seems like some stronger flavors, like coffee or tobacco would be nasty with literally 3 times the amount of flavoring added. I'm also aware that some vendors limit the additional flavor option to certain flavors to lessen the chance of someone accidentally asking for a nasty juice and then complaining. I don't give a hoot really, as I make 90% of my juice myself, just curious if anyone knows how the vendors actually factor the "extra flavor" options.

You are right, I misunderstood your question. Sorry, I have no idea what the vendors do. Never ordered any with extra flavor.

I've been vaping strictly DIY juice more or less since the beginning (May of last year for me). I've found that each flavor works best at its own concentration, which can only be found through trial and error. However, I do think it's a good general rule of thumb to start lower with tobacco flavors. I find that TPA Green Apple, for instance, works beautifully at about 4%, while Apple needs to be closer to 10%. Tobacco flavors typically start tasting awful above about 4%.

So, excellent general rule of thumb, but you may have to play with each flavor a little to figure it out.
