I have been looking at bottom feeders lately, and for the life of me can't figure out how they work. Mechanically, that is.

as a noob, some of these things baffle me.

Also what is the advantage of bottom feeding? and the disadvantages?

I know there are a lot of threads on these and even videos, but none seem to answer simple questions like these.

Can someone answer the simple questions and give a simple opinion on pro or con?

i'm not mechanical, so i don't know if i'm really gonna answer the way you need but...i'll tell ya what i know from my experience.
they are wired to make contact with both the battery and the atomizer at the same time. the type of wiring used makes a difference in what kind of vape you get. the battery used gives you the 3.7,5v, or 6v option. you choose the type of ohm. atty depending on at what volt you want to vape at.

the feed systems vary. some use a needle for suctioning of the juice. some use the method where you apply pressure to the bottle and that helps suck the juice up the tubing to the atty. there are 3ml bottles and 6ml bottles.

the pros are you keep your atty wet easier and there is less messing around in general. you don't have to use carts! some allow you to still use carto's though.

the cons, hmmm, don't have many. initial cost, finding a maker who makes a quality product?

Bottom feeders squeeze juice up into the cup of the atty.
Some of them include a needle that extends all the way through to nearly touching the underside of the bridge.
Some people use a cartomizer instead of an atty...the same concept still appiles.

Advantages:
All in one box...no longer have to open a bottle and drip drip.
Excess juice drains right back down into the bottle.

There's no rule to keep you from also using cartomizers, tanks, or atties on a bottom feeding mod. In some cases you can even combine systems to increase the load of juice you're carrying in a single unit. It's quite versatile.

Disadvantages:
To change flavors or refill, depending on the mod (easier on some than others) you might have to open or take apart the box to change the bottle. Might have to remove/clean and then rethread a small hose if you want to truly change flavors. You might be limited to one or two bottle types...so you'll have to transfer your juices to these squeezable bottles to load them up...which means occasionally cleaning out the bottles and such.

Rare but possible leaking if the mod sits upside down or on its side too long.

Learning how much and how hard to squeeze (squonk) the bottle without flooding the atty can take a little practice at first. Probably no harder than learning dripping however...it's just something that comes with a few minutes of practice...and differs from person to person and juice to juice as to what works best. Some feeders just work better than others...either by luck or design...

Thanks to both of you. thats exactly what i was looking for. mainly the squeeze thing was what i didn't understand. from the pictures i couldn't quite figure it out, but i did notice the exposed bottle. i guess thats what that is for.

Point taken on changing flavors and cleaning.

I guess if it was the best thing since sliced brea

I got into bottom feeders after learning how to drip and getting tired of it.. with the learning curve comes all the muss and fuss.

then i heard about the "smart pv" which has regulated power to the atty.. basically it makes sure that every vape gives consistent power from the battery no matter what stage in the charge cycle. So you can dial in your preferred voltage for a particular atty and you get the ideal vape every time. (Provari, Darwin, Infinity).

They are also VV (variable voltage) so you can dial in a different setting any time for a different vape on the same atty, or a different atty's resistance.

I find this is a more satisfying experience and went back to dripping, which imo is a better vape than from the "bottom" of the atty, although many use cartos or tanks.

The cost is substantial but imo well worth it if you got it.

I like my Darwin too. I also won't give up my other VV device. I look forward to the round of VV bottom feeders soon to come out.

I'm very settled down in my juice preference (so I don't switch often) and I'm comfortable in knowing what resistance will get me to where I want to be. So my bottom feeders are getting a workout while the others sit and watch.

yep, definitely the best thing since sliced bread, or a camel menthol...........
well anyways........The REO reosmods.com is definitely the bottom feeder of choice by me.
I started with a joye 510, but the REO has kept me cigarette free!
Go for it! You will not be dissapointed, I promise.

I've found my happy-place in terms of wattage... also found my battery/atty/juice happy-places... and I really do love my Prodigy. I definitely dont need/want a VV device. The weak-point in my vaping is probably the fact that I drip... and even that is only a minor inconvenience... I have my eye on the Reo Grande, but it's going to be a while... cant justify that when my vaping experience is going so well : )

I have 2 bottom feeders. The Ali'i from R7R Manufaturing and the Reo Grand from Reo's Mods. They both rock. I bought the Ali'i first and have used it everyday (it's my main PV). I just got the Grand and have been vaping it for a few hours now. It's a very solid unit. If you are looking for a VV bottom feeder Kaji at R7R makes one, the Ali'i VV. I highly recommend either of these devices.

I'm not familiar with that R7R product. Anyone got a link? Monkey Boxx is also has a VV bottom feeder.

I really can't wait to hear what people think of the new Boge Revolution V2. It appears to be a bottom feeder type with a needle attached to the bottle. Anyone used this or have any thoughts on this product? I really want to get a bottom feeding system and I love a boge carto...seems like this would be the perfect place for me to start in the bottom feeding world. But maybe not hah.

Looks absolutely awesome to me. Any word on when they're actually going to be available? I may pre-order but I'm hesitant if it's going to be a long wait (I'll end up buying something else in the meantime).

Woops, nevermind. Looks like they're shipping out the 21st. Ordered one!

Awesome dnB, post what you think about it. I am so tempted to buy but I am a poor "post-college" kid trying to pay student loans. I don't wanna drop 70 bucks on a device if its crap hah. If it works as good as it looks then I'm all in.

Will do! Unfortunately I can only compare it to the joye 510 and riva 510 but oh well. :)
