How empty should a tank go without harm to wick or coil?

vaping liquid is unavailable in my home town. I have to order from an internet vendor in a large city or, even worse, abroad. Thus, I hate to waste eliquid —call me a cheapskate if you want. =) How empty can my atomizer tanks go without risking burning the wick or the coil? I use an epipe mod with a ViviNova tank with wicks that come out about halfway from top to bottom and also an eGo MT3 which I believe doesn't have a wick. Can any one give recommendations?

I don't think you will hurt the actual coil. The rubber insulator around the center pin may get burnt if you dry burn. The wick is silica which can be dry burnt (even torched) and should not get hurt. So I think you could run it really dry and still be ok.

Sounds like the more important thing is to stock up on some juice though.

Thanks a bunch for the replies folks! The reasons I might run the tank dry are to clean it for juice change, changing the head or just resting the mod without worrying about leaks or gunk. However, I've studied a lot these few days about the hobby and it seeems my worries were unjustified. What I'm looking for now is to do some NET from my favorite pipe tobaccos and see what gives. It seems I should be able to get VG & PG easily here for the base and the extract process but the big no-no is the nic. I've been unable to find anyone selling it, even tried the agricultural firms who sell insecticides! <vbg> Nobody carries it, period.

One local agro firm has an organic insecticide with nicotine in it but also a whole lotta poisons that I wouldn't touch even with a hazmat suit. =)

A guy in Mexico City told me I can get it from China and they will label it as organic insecticide. I'll check... Good clouds guys and thanks again!
