How far out from the connector for 801 atom

I got everything I need to make a mod box, my new 801 atoms come last week and they are nice ones. Heavy and bigger then my janty 510, at any rate I'm trying to use a 1/4 phone jack connection. I got a brass screw but not sure, how far out from the threaded part the screw head can go and still work right ???

Put an atomizer on the threads of the phone jack, insert the brass screw until it touches the center contact of the atomizer. A little higher is better than too low. I recently started using part of a spring from a retractable pen inside a shot nylon tube insterted into the jack. The spring will make contact with any penstyle atomizer center contact. It is not perfect, but pretty effective.
