You'll get a lot of rah-rah answers, but in all honesty my answer to each of your questions is no.

Insomnia is far worse, in fact. I have more nicotine in my blood stream now than when I was smoking 30 cigarettes a day. But that's just me and my routine. I use snus and other nicotine sources. I've always been energetic. Never had excessive breathlessness. And snus clobbers any notion of improved taste, so I can't judge that one. I have no taste, except in music.

From a health standpoint, this isn't kicking nicotine -- and nicotine is not kind to your body. Plus, the propylene glycol adversely affects some users with sore throat, muscle cramps, coughing up ...., hiccups, upset stomach, etc. I can definitely tell my lungs don't like it. Neither does my throat. Until you're off nicotine, you won't enjoy all the purported benefits of quitting cigarettes. But at least you aren't sucking in 200 known carcinogens with puffs from an e-cig.

This is the biggie for me: My smoker's cough disappeared in a week and hasn't returned.

Still, ponder this: There are no long-term studies on the safety of inhaling propylene glycol, and its manufacturer suggests NOT inhaling it. Do we really know the health consequences of what we're doing in place of tobacco smoking? No, we do not. We're hoping.

a) I breathe better.
b) Food tastes different. Some better...some I find that I don't care for like I used to.
c) I seem to sleep better
d) Not feeling the more energy just yet. Lately, I've been feeling exhausted. But I have been using e-cigs exclusively now since April 28th. I feel like I did when I quit smoking a few years ago using the patch. It took me a few months to start feeling more energetic. A lot of that could be psychological. Doc told me (when I quit with the patch) that I was probably 'mourning' the loss of the cigarettes. It made sense...so I started a new exercise regimen the next day...pushed myself to get off my ......and started feeling much better (and the mourning started fading). Well, I'm feeling that 'mourning' again...even though I have the e-cigs, there are times I would like to just light up for "old time's sake" but I have been resisting that urge. I'm going to begin a new exercise regimen again on Monday. Already bought a bunch of stretching and yoga DVDs and eager to start them.

I feel better.
Granted I don't feel GREAT like some people have posted... But there is a very noticable difference, even after just 3 weeks.

I've always had sleeping problems, and nothing has changed with that.

My sense of smell and taste have gotten quite a bit better. (Something that's kinda funny is if I try to take a hit from my friend's cigarette, it makes my tongue numb!)

Something that's a little hard to explain... I used to have a really bad smell/taste come from my breath when I would exhale sometimes. Not bad mouth breath... but internal. I would smell it a few times a day. I'm sure it was whatever was sitting in my lungs. I don't get that any more.

I used to wake up and be extremely short of breath. I felt like I just couldn't get enough oxygen. That stopped happening after a week. I would also wake up shaking really bad with small anxiety attacks and that hasn't happened either.

I'm always lacking in energy. This is due to medication I take... and that hasn't changed. Maybe I have a tiny bit more energy in the afternoon...

I can take deeper breaths now.

wow - great responses - quick as well

propylene glycol - isnt this the stuff they use in nightclubs for smoke machines. If so this stuff must be non toxic or else it would be banned.

I personally agree with the sleeping element - I dont think Esmoking will help as we may be taking in more nicotine.

do you guys get the same kick out of Ecigs - like after a meal or on the Toilet :)confused:) as you would with normal cigs

I have started to play football but 20 years of smoking has really taken it out of me - I am hoping this will help or is this too much too ask for?

I don't get the same kick when I use it after a meal, but I do get a kick. And that's good. But I'm still experimenting with flavors and level of nicotine. There are some I like more than others. There are some that "do it for me" and others that don't.

The "mint" flavor I got with my kissbox is awesome in my opinion. But I got it in medium. It was as close to a real menthol cigarette that I've been since I've been using e-cigs. I want to try the "high" level. It may be the one for me, ya know?

still trying to work this forum thingy out - tried to edit the post to wish you the best with your exercise routine - go for it

always try to focus on how you will feel just after youve completed your exercise routine - busted but you will feel great.

ive ordered "high" HD cartridges from Janty - I really want it to work and I'm the gunea pig at the office at the mo.

If I can convert over to ecigs then there are about 8 people willing to also start

No I do not get the kick. It's kinda weird. I'm like, hey, I want a cigarette. Well normally I would light up a cig, and get a kick of nicotine, am fulfilled, and feel really good. Done with my cigarette and good for an hour or so.

The way it works with e-cigs (for me) is hey, I want a cigarette. I puff on my e-cig. After puffing for 5-10 minutes, I just lose the want of nicotine. I still fell pretty good, but the nicotine hit comes in very gradually, sometimes a little white after I'm done puffing. And it's not a strong one. I don't get the kick.

When I do want that hit I put in a Skoal apple pouch (man those things are good), oliver twist tobacco bit, or smoke a watermelon Philly Blunt. I do this 2-3 times a day, sometimes more. I would highly recommend people using other nicotine with their e-cig. This is actually Tropical Bob's advice which I followed and I'm damn glad I did. BTW thanks Bob your posts have helped me sooo much with this stuff :)

I do really like the HD cartridges myself. They last me longer. And I'm waiting for Janty USA to finally open so I can order more "mint" cartridges!!! I'm excited!

I'm looking forward to the new exercise routine. I used to practice yoga and pilates in the past, but haven't for quite a while since just a few months before my sister died. I was very diligent with it. It was an every morning thing for me and helped me feel better through the workday. I had also been a non-smoker for about three years when I was practicing. But my sister's condition had taken a different turn and I stopped exercising to take care of her. After she died, I picked up the cigarettes again. 2005 had been the most difficult year of my life. I'm still not through it...don't think I'll ever be through it...but I'm learning to live with it...which is one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.

I gotta thank dnakr. If I hadn't seen her e-cig, I probably still wouldn't have heard of it or even tried it for that matter. Using these has helped me feel a little better physically and has actually helped me WANT to get back into an exercise routine again.

what are they ?? - how do you get them etc

Skoal Apple is just apple flavored Skoal chewing tobacco, but in a pouch. You can get them almost anywhere chewing tobacco is sold.
A lot of people perfer Swedish Snus, but the websites that sell it are in other countries and my Chase bank card won't accept charges. Otherwise I'd order that instead. Going to get a Visa gift card and put in an order next week though.

The Oliver Twist are little tobacco bits. You let them sit in your cheek, and you don't need to spit. I found these at a local tobacco shop. They had sample packs with all their flavors for $.50, or a full pack of them for about $6 US. Their website is House of Oliver Twist A/S - For the times you can't light up!

A lot of people on this forum like Stonewall hard snuff. I don't like it because of the artificial sweetener. They're really cheap about $2 US for a box of 20. Their website is Ariva and Stonewall Official Site | Dissovable Tobacco | Smoke Free Tobacco

You're welcome, BishyBob. azE, I would encourage you to have more than one option when you dump the cigarettes. You'll likely never face anything more difficult in your life than quitting cigarettes (if you're a real addict). I use mild snus, Stonewall, Oliver Twist and mild pipe tobacco a few times a day. The idea is to use whatever the mood or moment dictates. Cigarettes used to be a "reward" I gave myself when a task was successfully completed. I had to have a new reward system. A pipe smoked outside in the morning and evening is a fitting reward. And the Stonewalls, to me, are delicious. Keep in mind that all of these are addictive, so they are NOT for quitting nicotine, just smoking. The e-cigarette is wonderful in that it helps keep your hands busy with something familiar. I get no kick from nicotine in E-Liquid, not even the highest level, which I've used ever since I began in January. The highest nicotine comes from my snus -- which will put a newbie in bed! Ease into the changes and go light at first. Like BishyBob, I love cigarettes and miss them, but know I must never return to something so injurious to my health. The cravings are daily -- defeat them one at a time with e-smoking.

As for propylene glycol, go to Dow Chemical and read the scientific papers. They tell actors not to spend any time in the theatrical fog. That's not much of a recommendation, I'd say, to inhale it directly from a vaporizer.

I like smoking a pipe. The pipe tobacco tastes/smells great. But I've only smoked one a few times ever. I would like to get one, but man I would think I would look really stupid. I'm not the type of person that would look good with one. In fact I think I would get laughed at. I dunno.

I'll have to stick to the occasional hookah session.

Here are my feelings on your questions, hope they help.
It does seem to me that everyone seems to report mostly similar reactions to e-smoking, but with subtle invidual variations that appear to be linked to each persons own day use.

a) not feeling breathlessness
Yes I have over the last month or so noticed my breathing does seem a bit easier and my overall lung capacity seems to have improved, without comparative pre and post testing this is a subjective response. I do notice that if I e-mist (new word) for a lengthy period of time, which is easy to do as there is not and end point to using them as you get with tobacco products. I get a sort of tired feeling in my lungs, it's hard to be accurate what the feeling is, but tirednes is the closest I can come to it. I think this could be caused by the propylene glycol being matabolised into lactic acid in my lungs, lactic acid is the by-product of exercise in muscles and causes the tired heavy feeling we get after strenuous activity. This does seem to pass quite quickly though.

b) better taste
This is a bit difficult to quantify, e-mist (using a new word:)) has a completely different taste/flavour to tobacco smoke, at first I wasn't sure I liked it, now I do. I have also found that smoking cigarettes is no longer pleasant, I don't like the taste of them anymore. Cigars I still enjoy as I do a pipe of cavendish

c) sleeping
Probably because I was extensively using my new toys, my nicotine levels were raised to very high levels. Nicotine is a stimulant so yes I did have some sleep disruption. prior to e-misting I'd spend 7-8 hours in bed per night, this reduced to 6.5-7.5 hours. Falling asleep aslo seemed to take a bit longer than it previously. Once I got to sleep there didn't seem to be any lack of quality. I have not noticed any increased tiredness levels during the day. I have modified my end of day use and now try not to e-mist for an hour or so before going to bed, this seems to have reduced the changes I noticed at first ... I have gone back to 7-8 hours in bed and now seem to be able to fall asleep as I used to.

d) more energy
I do definately notice an increase in the stimulant effect of the nicotine I'm inhaling, it seems to have a greater effect more rapidly than smoking cigarettes in particular. Cigars and a pipe is a different effect because for the most part the smoke is not inhaled but in general held in the mouth and then exhaled, nicotine is not as readily absorbed into the blood stream through the mouth as it is in the lungs.
For example I used to smoke three cigarettes in the morning and never really noticed the effect of the nicotine, now, with my morning e-misting I certainly do notice the nicotine hit. I think this attributable to it being just nicotine I'm inhaling and not the negative result producing by-products of tobacco smoke, particularly CO (carbon monoxide) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) plus all the other crap that is the smoke from the evil weed.

I hope that helps you.

I've noticed improvements in sense of taste, sense of smell, and in my breathing - it's smoother, especially at night, with increased capacity.

If you do have a difficult time quitting ciggies, sure, fill in with other products whether those listed here or NRT like the nicotine inhaler or gum or whatever. Many folks haven't had a problem switching from ciggies to ecigs, so don't presume you will. Some folks do, some don't.

I smoked ciggies one night when none of my ecigs worked and it was very unpleasant. I posted about it in the Quitting section.

UPDT: Oh, nobody has mentioned your "on the Toilet" :) so I will. I didn't smoke in every room at home but definitely in the bathroom, so I understand. Ecigs are fine there too. :)

UPDT: Forgot to mention this quite noticeable change. My hands are warm now and my feet are lukewarm rather than cold. Presume that means improved circulation.

lol

(i thought I might be the only one doing it on the toilet)

It would be great to see what people are 'actually' feeling and so far it seems positive

also people also seem to say after quitting

"Look attractive with healthy, glowing skin, no tobacco stains on your teeth and fewer wrinkles"

this may be a long term benefit.

I strongly feel that the more companies we have in competition the better and we may get close to 99% E CIG
