This guy in Italy does the best and most detailed reviews of mods. Not sure what he had to say about Geekvape's TC mode, but I'd trust whatever he had to say.

I had a Legend, but gave it to my son because it was too heavy and bulky for my taste. I have and use both the Mini and Solo, but I don't use TC.

Aegis Mini vs Aegis Solo: Reviews

full

Red Aegis Solo in middle; green Aegis Mini on right. JAC Vapour series B DNA75W on the left does great TC; Evolv, the maker of the DNA chip, actually invented TC.

Geekvape's TC is meant for use with Geekvape's own coils. For more advanced use you'll probably want a DNA mod. I'm not sure what crazy stuff is in your 'concentrate tank' but I'm beginning to suspect that your use case is beyond the scope of this forum. We'd be glad to support your vaping of nicotine for smoking cessation.

Bit hampered here because you seem to be looking at some devices that are outside the scope of this forum. We ONLY deal with e-cigarette stuff here. Dry herb and “other things” are not discussed at all.

As a rule the only devices that do TC really really well are devices with DNA boards in them. They invented the technology and everything else has stuff that has been reverse engineered from it with varying levels of success. The legend does not have a DNA board, so it is by definition going to be “kind of weak”. You’re not likely to be able to find a DNA based device in your price range though, so if you remove DNA as a factor I would class the legend’s TC as “quite decent”. That is of course for e-cigarette stuff.

I have no idea how it might deal with “other things”

Hello @Screwdriver, the forums concentrate only on Nicotine replacement.

But if you're looking for decent TC at bargain prices you may want to look at the Vsticking VK530 mod, uses a YiHi SX530 chipset which can hold its own against Evolv DNA. And is considerably better than Geekvapes offerings.

I saw one post that claimed it didn’t, and iirc it isn’t much cheaper than DNA boards which may put it over the range he is seeking. I’ve never tried one though so I can’t confirm/deny

@bombastinator, some places have them around $50. So, not absolutely ridiculous.

I've even seen them at around $80.

Got a few Sxmini SL Class YiHi SX485J mods in the collection as they're a decent 21700 mod. TC on them is very good, you just have to use Joules the same as Watts. So if you need to use 30 Watts for the coil, you use 30 Joules.

But I can certainly recommend YiHi mods, especially if you find them at a good price.

Thanks for the info. I bought the Aegis Solo and it is working perfectly in TC for what I needed it for.
Then I assume the atomizer you have is using either Stainless Steel or NiChrome wire coils. These types of coils must be used for temp control.

Most over the counter, factory made coils use kanthal wire, which is incompatible for use with TC and you have to use wattage or power mode.

Ni wire in Ni mode only.
Ti wire in Ti mode only.
SS in either TC mode if SS is supported, or watt mode.
Kanthal in watt mode only.

Yeah....The SAI TAF uses a Ni wired ceramic disc with a titanium bucket. Setting tweaked from suggested. I'm using...TCR:315, 35W and 400F. And it is working similar to other mods that people are using with TC.
