Richmond, Va...Right in Altria's back yard.
Im at 3 months with no analogs this go round and I still dont have them back all of the way yet. Theyve been coming in bursts....sometimes Ill smell something random....like someone getting out of the shower and smelling their soap or I'll get a whiff of the dog or someones armpits in a crowd.

Hang in there...many of us spent 20+ years abusing our bodies and they take time to come back.

I smoked for 20 years too and if I remember correctly it was about a month. I now know for sure the minute the garbage needs to go out or the cat litter needs scooping. It's not as good to smell as I thought LOL.

Lol. Uh oh I have a gassy dog and 2 cats. Maybe I will get some nose plugs just in case :0)

Yup! Smoking "a whole pack a day for years" def. takes its toll on the body and mind. The human body is a self-repairing machine, quitting smoking, eating right, and even little excersice as taking a walk in the park and inhaling fresh air will set it in repair mode on full throttle :thumb:

I noticed it kinda goes in steps... After 3 or so days I noticed I could smell/taste a lot better, but even after about 4 months I noticed improvements. There is a definite vast improvement to be had in the first week, and even 2 that are noticeable, but I still occasionally notice things that I can't remember smelling before. And, yeah, there are definite downsides to all the bad smells that are more pronounced and suddenly fuller and nuanced even... Or simply put, alarmingly more gross than I ever remember. lol.

Stange becuase I never noticed my sense of smell being affected for the 10 years I smoked. I always thought I still could pick up scents fairly easy... after a month and a half of vaping, I'm waiting around for a noticable change and none so far.... food still tastes the same. If my senses have improved I haven't noticed it really...

This kinda where I am at this moment. I can smell nicotine on ppl a lot of times and when it comes to coffee taste is everything. I am excited and kinda scared at what I will taste or smell if/when all mine comes back. What I might have always loved might turn into what was I thinking.

After about 2 or 3 months vaping exclusively, my taste did some odd things.
I started with sweet flavors, then 2 or 3 months in I couldn't stand the sweet and wanted sour.
Good luck finding the tart/sour flavors, LOL.

Then a month or 2 after that went back to sweet.
I had a time frame where nothing tasted good, then nothing tasted strong enough.
This is vaping wise, not food or smells.

I'm a year and 7 months and I think vaping taste has evened out.
Food does taste better and my sense of smell is better.
I would have to say it depends on the person. Some are just weeks and their senses improves. Others are months into it.

Actually, I never understand this thing about smoker/non-smoker tongues in terms of how long they smoked because:

The cells within the human taste buds are continuously renewed. They have a life span of about 10 to 14 days.

I think what people are experiencing is the first time they've experienced freshly renewed taste buds that no cigarette smoke has ever touched... soooo... 10 to 14 days should do it.

Wonder if maybe if your constantly regenerating new buds every 10-14 days but not every bud so it takes time to get them all new and smoke free? Which would explain improvement over time?

That is exactly what has happened to me. It is sort of hard to put into words.

I'm almost 5 months in and sense of smell came very quickly (1-2 weeks). Taste, well that's a different story. My taste buds and my brain are still at war. Little skirmishes every week or so. Neither knows what they like. I can definitely taste more, but sometimes that's good and sometimes that's bad. Makes finding the right liquid a real challenge.
