I am a 20+ yr pack a day smoker and am curious as to how long it will take to get my taste buds to recover from all that analog use. I know not everyone is the same but was hoping to get an idea of what to expect.
I smoked for 20 years too and if I remember correctly it was about a month. I now know for sure the minute the garbage needs to go out or the cat litter needs scooping. It's not as good to smell as I thought LOL.
Hang in there...many of us spent 20+ years abusing our bodies and they take time to come back.
Stange becuase I never noticed my sense of smell being affected for the 10 years I smoked. I always thought I still could pick up scents fairly easy... after a month and a half of vaping, I'm waiting around for a noticable change and none so far.... food still tastes the same. If my senses have improved I haven't noticed it really...
Actually, I never understand this thing about smoker/non-smoker tongues in terms of how long they smoked because:
The cells within the human taste buds are continuously renewed. They have a life span of about 10 to 14 days.
I think what people are experiencing is the first time they've experienced freshly renewed taste buds that no cigarette smoke has ever touched... soooo... 10 to 14 days should do it.
Im at 3 months with no analogs this go round and I still dont have them back all of the way yet. Theyve been coming in bursts....sometimes Ill smell something random....like someone getting out of the shower and smelling their soap or I'll get a whiff of the dog or someones armpits in a crowd.
