Rinse several times, blow out the atty through the battery end until it stops spitting liquid, then set out to dry overnight. You can accelerate the process by "dry burning" -- that is, attaching it to your battery (make sure it's totally dry on the outside and around the battery connection) and pulsing the button until you hear it sizzle.

The best method for those though, which also happens to be a pain in the ...., is to remove the needle plate in the atomizer with some needle-tipped pliers, or a thin, strong instrument with a bend at the tip like a dentist's pick to get under the plate and yank up. Then rinse the needle plate and wick (re-position it if necessary -- there is a good video on YouTube for that) and rinse out the atty. Then dry burn before replacing the needle plate so you can see the coil. You should pulse and dry burn until the coil glows evenly -- just don't let it get white hot; a dull red is sufficient. Blow in it periodically to remove any ash created from the dry burn (that's the juice gunk and bits of burned wick burned to ashes). Then replace the wick (make sure it's seated properly, it should kind of snap into place) and you're ready to go.

I just rinse out with water...blow all the water out and dry burn until I can see the coils...Takes me only about 10 min total. I then just drip and vape.
I also occasionally just rinse between flavors and blow out dry burn till it starts to get warm them add juice. After a few hits it is vaping like a champ again.

looks like more research is required

I agree. Of course this research will require a large number of properly 'dirtied' atty's to clean, and the only way to get those is through vaping on them.

Being the civic minded individual that I am, and always willing to assist my fellow man 'persons' I hereby volunteer my time to help out in the role of an 'Atomizer dirtier'.
