I have a problem of constant flooding and charred up heating coils resulting in an awfully tasting atomizer that I need to throw away. Tried various cleaning methods (water/crest/ultrasonic), nothing worked.
As an example in the past 2 weeks alone I've went through 6 atomizers.
I just can't seem to ever get the correct dry/wet ratio.

With a 510, how many drops would you drip and at what intervals.
Let's say regular droppler drops, not tiny syringe drops.

With a new atty:
- blow out primer
- drip X drops
- vape Y drags of 8 seconds
- drip X drops
- vape Y drags of 8 seconds
- drip X drops
- etc

What should be the values of X and Y for me to not have any more problems?

Generally X = 2 or 3 drops, Y=10-15 drags. I would not just throw the attys out. It sounds to me like it is the cart not wicking well. 510 carts with stock filler are notorious for that. Try using blue foam (search the joye 510 forum) or zero-filler mod, ZFM. That what I use as I was getting tired of that too, plus topping off all the time.

Another thing to check is the atty coil. After it is cleaned and dried over night, see if it gives an orange glow when on the batt, without juice or cart. If it does, then the atty is likely ok. Floods and burnt taste, in my experience is a cart thing, not an atty thing. Of course, there have been reports of 510 attys that have a bad taste, but this has not been my experience (all mine are Totally Wicked Titans which are rebranded Joyes) 90% of the time bad 510 atty taste or flooding is a cart not behaving.

What kind of liquid are you using? I thought I'd done something horribly wrong with one of my atty's the other day - turns out it was the juice itself that tasted awful.

I just had this exact same thing happen with HG Cappuccino 36mg...would vape great for a few hits, then give the most God awful burnt char taste.

Any time I've gotten the burnt char taste, it's because I'm vaping faster than my cart is wicking.. Tried the pyramid teabag mod and was constantly topping off my carts and still getting some charred hits. Using a plug method with the regular filler and that is going well, I just have to pause for 10-15 seconds before my next hit. Even when I was smoking I never liked a "warm" hit. I hated letting my husband hit my cig, and getting a hot filter back so I have to check myself occasionally to vape a bit slower. Super hard to do with this banana nutbread juice from Tasty Vapor, sooo yummy. :)

i had a bum bottle of clove juice which i suspect in a series of atomizer burnouts--i've saved them and will resurrect but aside from the numerology 2-3 drops in all cases--it may be the juice. If you are dripping onto the atomizer even with no cart--just the empty one it shipped with--you shoud have a pretty easy time figuring out the # of drags (8 seconds woah!--i only last 5)

good luck check your juice supply --any suspects?

I'm using an empty cart with no filler. Dripping straight onto atty's mesh.
Also tried stock polyfill, pyramid teabag and bought the yellow ZFM plugs.

It does glow orange OK. Though that gung buildup starts to smoke and smells/tastes awful. Adding juice (more like flooding) masks that taste a bit, but I can still taste it.

I'm using 18mg Johnson Creek PG Strawberry.
Same bottle tastes great on a new atty. Then awful after a few days.
