I have a 510, mine's the Dura-C, it produces great vapor, but as mentioned, it takes some practice to get it down.
Here's how I get the best vape, from an empty cart.
Blow out your atomizer - take it apart, put your mouth around the end opposite from the battery threads, and blow as hard as you can, use a paper towel, and use it to soak up the juice that comes out the end. Take a breathe, repeat about 6 times, until it feels just like blowing through a straw. These atomizers can quickly become flooded, and when flooded, you'll hear a bubbling sound, you'll produce less vapor, you'll notice that the top of the fibers on the cart constantly looks wet, and occasionally, you'll get a strange metal/chemically taste, that makes me very nauseous. I would reccomend doing a quick blowout everytime you change the battery, experience those symtoms, or are done for the night. When you're done, set your atomizer battery side up on a table, so excess liquid drips out. This will keep your atomizer in top-notch condition, and give you excellent performance.
If you can't get the air to blow super easy, the atty is probably pretty clogged, and needs a cleaning. *This advice may potentially damage your atomizer if you're not careful, follow this step at your own risk* If done properly, you will not damage the atty. Their are layers of mesh coils that lead up to the coil. If you angle a paperclip in through the hole, you can realign them, which will give better performance. But you do not want to touch the coil(Which is right under the mesh bridge that arcs, perpendicular to it) or you may risk killing your atomizer! I mark my paperclip, by stripping the plastic off one. The size you'll want to use, is the length from the threaded end, to just below the gold strip on the Dura-C, other 510 attys don't have the wide gold strip, I'd say it's roughly a little under 1/4 an inch. Also angle it so you're aiming towards where the mesh bridge connects to the base in the atomizer, that way you don't accidentally stab the coil. You basically just want to reopen that pathway. If you do this properly, you're atomizer will dry out nicely! If this sound confusing, please do not attempt this, or you risk killing your atomizer!
Another good way I have found is to just soak the atomizer in rubbing alcohol for 24 hours, rinse it good with hot water, blow it out, and let it dry for 12 hours, battery-side up, preferably in sunlight. I'd recomend having a spare atomizer to use while cleaning. I reccomend doing this once a week, which will also keep your atomizer running great! If your atomizer has a lot of gunk built up, this will help a little, but it's best not to let it build, which is why you want to blow it out often, and clean it. It's a bit of maintance, yes, but it will save you money by making your atomizers last much longer, and you will always have great vape!
When filling a cart, best way to do it is to use a syringe, poke it down the side of the filling, and inject. This will completely fill the cart, and depending on how long of hits you take, I get about 50 to 100 hits out of a full cart! It takes just under 1ml of liquid to fill a cart, or about 16 drops, although, you'll get more juice in there using a syringe.
When topping off a cart, never leave a pool at the top of the filling! Instant way to flood your atomizer. You want it to be just slightly wet looking at the top. If it looks white, add one drop.
After putting a full cart on a dry, blown out atomizer, you'll probably have to top it off about 4 times until the mesh in the atomizer soaks up enough liquid to vaporize good. Use one drop on the cart with each top off. Some people also like to drip a drop straight on to the bridge of the atomizer, but in my opinion, dripping with the 510 doesn't work as good as using the cart.
I find the 510 hits best with 3 to 5 second draws. They should be pretty light, easy to inhale, and also provide throat hits, if not, blow out the atomizer.
I reccomend using a different cart for each different flavor you use, and it also works best if you blow out the atomizer when switching flavors.
Yes, it's a little bit of maintance, these things are not perfect, but you will get great vapor, great atomizer life, and love vaping if you take care of your e-cig. Good vape makes it much easier to quit smoking! I have been pretty much cig free for a month now. I got bored today and tried to smoke a cig, and the taste of it was disgusting, but it was the smell that really got to me. I honestly couldn't smoke it!
Happy vaping to you! The 510 is an excellent e-cig, and will treat you well!
